Depends on the mind set of a mod. If they feel the thread is borderline but has either deteriorated beyond repair or has just run its course it might just get closed but still there for interests sake. If a mod feels that the thread hasn't added anything to the forums or is not suitable under T&C's it can be removed totally. If a thread gets moved or deleted it can be done so without the poster knowing. Usually if something disappears, most understand the reasons why. It isn't done as punishment to the OP. Just keeping things tidy most times
