From the second link:
"After June 2001, the 220 kW engine from the T-Series was fitted as standard to the XR8 sedan but this engine was never offered in the XR8 ute range. Instead, it was decided to re-engineer the ute for a special premium performance model that would form part of the new T-Series 5.6-litre range."

I know its from their mouth but I find it odd that it was ok for the sedan to have the 220 and then 250 but not the ute? Perhaps they were just running them out for the end of model.

Either way thanks, never knew that although now I think of it I have never seen a 220 badge on a back of a ute
