Could be just the feel of them too. I can't ride my motorbike without gloves. Even giving it a test blat up the street I will squid bar helmet & the gloves. Maybe it's because I ride a sports bike. Even if I went cruiser, I'd still go the gloves.

May also be handy in summer, hot wheel after being parked up during the day.

He may also have an old car with the skinny wheel. (As above)

Or his mate like getting into pompous character on a Sunday drive complete with flat cap & tartan pants.....

Turns out there is cancer as well!
