I would of turned mine dozens of times. I initially started with a pair of needle nose pliers and I though it moved in a little. When I changed to the cube tool, there was no noticeable retraction at all.

The piston was a long way out, the pads had just got to the grinding noise point so next to no friction material left on the inner pad. Hopefully hasn't gone past some stop.....
