Rev tacho

Hey guys I'm having trouble with the standard rev tacho on the XY on the back of it there is one wire going to the B terminal a white wire which is from the neg side of the coil but the tacho does rev right and I have a earth from the chassis to the tacho housing and the engine is electronic ignition
Could anyone help please thanks guys
