This may be a subject for another thread, but....
SA does have a desal sitting idling while we take water from the Murray, the river has plentiful supply at the moment.
The
idle cost for desal is the price you pay for water security. Just as the sun comes up in the morning, there will be another 10 year drought and we will run out of river water, then we'll all have our pitch forks out demanding why the guvmint didn't do anything about it.
