User Ibaker documented a lengthy saga diagnosing his misbehaving MD Mondeo, where it turned out to be a faulty EGR causing weird transmission behaviours. I think a characteristic of the EGR fault is that it doesn't store any fault codes relevant to the transmission, which makes it extra hard to diagnose. As you have a DTC related to a transmission component (a shift solenoid), I think it's more likely you have a direct fault in the transmission than the EGR issue.

Do let us know if the techs at Ford manage to find out anything more, or fix it
