Isn't the whole "we make more by constantly making less cars" argument a bit stale now? I mean once you've cut costs where you can, the only way to boost profit is by volume. I'm sure Ford hit that point with Falcon a good two or so years ago at least.
Since then the only things they have been able to do is sack staff, and watch their supplier chain go belly up from lack of orders. Oh and Prodrive walk out the door. I don't any of that was due to some super secret formula Ford thought up for making money from less and less. It was and is simple economics.
