Let's compare vehicles that have a 2wd and AWD option, so we are comparing apples to apples, shall we?

Ford Taurus AWD PRICE: $1,850 option

FWD: 19 city/ 29 hwy/23 combined
AWD: 18 city/ 26 hwy/21 combined

Let's look at another

Dodge Charger R/T

AWD option $2350
rwd: 16/25, awd:15/23

If you are having trouble with understanding it, AWD is more expensive and uses more fuel!

Weights not listed on website, but I am sure you are correct. The rear driveshaft and diff don't weigh anything! LOL.
