I bought a 2 litre short motor off a mate of mine in '97, and . He bought it with the twin cam head conversion, complete, and supposedly running. The twin cam head does fit, but as mentioned above, it is not a cheap exercise.
It had the pistons fly cut to clear the valves, and was balanced and blueprinted. When he installed it in his escort, he ran into a couple of issues. Head bolts for the twin cam head are a throw away item once used. The engine builder had reused the old ones, and it created some issues. Also, the extractors (custom ones required) needed the reshaping of the brake booster bracket, as well as the battery tray was relocated to the boot to make room for the webbers. He kept on running into issues with it and ended up separating the parts and moving onto another project.
