Default timing chain tensioner filter?

hi all. well today i bought a new timing chain set with all the gaskets and was just looking for other things i need and i noticed something. i am pretty sure the chain tensioner is supposed to have a filter in with it with 3 O rings either side? well heres a pic of mine that came straight out of the timing cover.




i'm guessing someone has worked on it before i had the car. should i get one and put it in or is it not really needed?

one more thing. is there any way to test that the regulator valve that supplies oil to the tensioner is working with the engine dismanteled?

yep the filter goes on the end of the first peice pictured. has 1 O ring on either side. unless its still stuck in the second peice?

and is there supposed to be an O ring between the retainer (second thing in pic) and the timing cover?

anyone no about the regulator valve?

yeah should be some sort of washer/Oring. when i put mine back on i used a O ring and some 3 bond gasket maker.

well i can't find a filter anywhere. so i'm not sure what i'm going to do. might just turn me back on it, and hope it's all good.

no it's right. don't think anyone knows anyway. the retainer (second from left) is 15Nm, retainer plug (1st from left) 10Nm. hope that helps

2022 an update. Just spoke to ford. This filter is NLA, NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Trying to find workaround as mine broke as i tried to get orings off.
