Default Censorship?

Well, time for me to sound like an old stick in the mud. After looking at this thread: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=27008 I thought, I am really glad that my missus wasn't in the room, also thought the same for you little girl. I don't have a problem with someone posting this, but, perhaps we need to give some sort of a warning when posting.

I know it would probably effect the innitial response of the joke, but, so does reading other's responses. Is there some rule we can bring in about this?

I don't think it is upto us to determine that level of censorship rather the user not opening links that point off site or does not have enough explanation to it.

Its like reading spam, the responsibility is common sense.

Yes, agree there should be warnings.

Yeah, I'm not askign for actual sensorship, perhaps sensorship was the incorrect term, please note the time I posted the thread. Would just like it if the poster could perhaps say "not safe for kiddies" Or something like that. Much like the not "dial-up friendly" or "adult content" warnings.

You can do your own selective censorship! Check the poster before clicking the link, if you do no recognise them clicking links is AT YOUR OWN RISK as AFF has no control on any material hosted outside of the site. Even if you do know the poster mistakes can happen.

Remember there are some here that drag rubbish in from the internet with the same pride and persistence shown by a cat with a box of dead birds.

Re: a thread I posted this evening in the bar. I warned of the nudity content of an offsite website and it has been deleted.

As I enjoy the feedback I get from others, I would have liked to have seen what everyone thought of it rather than it be removed without a trace. :

For future reference, when one of us wishes to post something interesting or amusing that has no illegal or distasteful content, how do we ensure that we do not raise a mod's ire and have our posts removed?

Common sense and a check of the T&C would be a good start!
Its nor always the content of the first post that is the reason a thread is pulled. The ensuing pages of lurid an suggestive comment that would almost certainly follow this type of post are the reason why some of this stuff is best not posted. Everyone has Google and you can always PM links to a circle of buddies.

Bindi

Just to make it simple, its not acceptable, and if it happens again, then I am going to ask the team to implement censorship of you right to post.

Enough of your posts have been so far off topic, abusive and in breach of TOC that enough is enough.

I will just reitorate on a point I made previously:-

* if you see a problem, report it. ALL users can report posts and regardless of who posted them in the first place, be it a mod, admin, regular user or whoever - if you feel it is inappropriate or not suitable, tell us. You would not believe the workload that being a mod has - reading every new post does take time and we are bound to occasionally miss some.

* nudity, porn, offensive content, racism etc are all straight out deleted items. Doesnt matter what it is or how many warnings you put up in the thread - it gets canned. First and foremost this is fordforums and it is a G rated site. If you really find it neccesary to share that sort of stuff, use the PM function, use email or better still take it off site.

* if you post a thread and it gets canned you can PM a mod to ask why. In cases where the thread is pretty vile/stupid odds are we will PM you anyway. As always, if there is a problem with a thread you come across or you need changes made etc - PM us. We cant do what you want without you telling us.

I would just like to say that I think the work you guys do is great and I am really thankfull that you donate your time(most of you are very busy) to search the forums looking for stuff that shouldn't be there. I understand that idiots like me post stuff that needn't be here and you moderate us. I am especially glad that you remove the likes of porn and other offensive material. I would like this site to remain g rated as I would like to share it with my children.

Are their certain words that automatically become deleted?. I used the word co-kroach in a sentence and it dissapeared?. When you hear fu-k quite regularly, even on late night TV it makes you wonder if deleting (some) words is a bit over the top!

The auto censor just deletes words. As for late nite TV and the F word.... this isn't late nite TV.
This issue has been done to death many times of late and as such I am closing the thread.
There is a time and a place for swear words.. and this forum is neither.
