dont leave Tony you big girl!!
big deal if we cant have signature images because of the 10% of dial up users.
i reckon you should just insert an image at the end of every post you have, (hehe.. no.. actually might end up causing some problems with Admin.)

I would like to have "footers" too, it just adds some personality to the author of each post.
i think that they should be 468 X 60 like Aeron said.

hey yeah, also i noticed the longest thing to load ARE the sponsor logos, i know without them these forums wouldnt really be a happening thing, but do they really need to be images, can they be put into a sponsors list or something?

What do you think?

Pics in sig = insecurity.
insecurity = bad
bad = un-fried chicken
un-fried chicken = has as much relevance as sig pics to an automotive site as un-fried chicken has to this thread.

I think i have enough trouble sorting through SOME of the rubbish that gets posted in public forums let alone sorting through their signature pics also.......

1 person here in favour of NOT having signature pics

It may look nice, but I'm here to read or find information, not look at minicars in signatures - there's already enough of them in avatars!

Anyway, I rarely hang around forums with restrictions or nazi admins. Been a short but good time here, spose I'll buzz off now.

Its a pity though, as I truely found this the best of the 3 forums... too bad its the only 1 with images disabled... Its also a pity you didn't let the vote take place, which is what a forum is all about.

I'm not even suggesting an upload facility, just enabling image links...
Lol BINGO! Those are the magic words! Now watch while the admin rushes to their computers to enable sigs so you dont leave... :

Yeah, let's all put pix up of our cars in the sigs.
Make sure you put address details, rego, and all the other stuff so that people KNOW that it's you & your car.
Most likely, the internet lurkers will drop around one night & pinch your ride.....

Yep, there's a spot for an avatar, and the gallery as well.
If they aren't good spots for a pic of your car, then what is????

i've got an idea.
go use ur other forum with their banners and bigger avatars and all that other crap.
the simple fact is, things are staying as they are so stop whinging.

lets make it real speedy and have no avatars and no sigs, then we can concentrate on the content

There's no need to be like that, it was my opinion and it clearly says in the title of this forum " Site Support, If something isn't working or you have a suggestion ( a nice one !! ) let us know here" and that's what this thread is about "A suggestion" and i am not whinging.

if people had done a search, they'd see this discussion had been braught up multiple times, and how many times does the admin have to say no before people get the idea.

suggestions are all good, but not 5x over.

The gallery is the 3rd most visited area of this forum after the Pub & Bar so I think that probably answers that question.

Let's put this in perspective. The total size of the (optimised) images for the sponsor logos is 222.35 kb for an average of 12.35 kb each. The samples provided earlier in this thread ranged from 22-67 kb each but let's assume for a moment that we restricted them to 20 kb each. With page views set at 25 posts per page that is an additional 500 kb of bandwidth per page impression or more than the actual text content of the average page including the sponsor logos.

Cheers
Russ

its all about balance. thats why people do visual enhancements on fast cars to balance it out a bit. same thing here sig pics is too much aesthetics (sorta like bodykits on honda's :P) avatar pics balances out a bit so you have the content and enough aesthetics to keep you happy just like a GT show and go :P

They should take no time at all as they should be loaded from your local cache.

what a load of crap...on your way faxus...lol

I dont care what car you drive, and if I did I would check out your gallery...

Pics in sigs are for poofs...its also reduces the mount of posts per page which is what forums are about anyway.

LOL at this topic in general

i find some peoples signatures alone annoying enough without signature pics.

You've got your avatar, you've got the show n shine, you've got the gallery, and you've got the ability to put a link to all of these or your own personal website in your signature.

bye fauxpas...
