Default Tickford on the comeback??

Hi guys this may have been spoken about in previous threads but i have just recently looked up tickford on the Australian abn search and it says prodrive have registered the name again last year. Does this mean what i think it means that ford are going to possibly send the last ford out as a tickford? ??

Doubt it, with only 1 month to go till end of falcon manufacturing alltogether. I'd have imagined some leak would have come out if ford were to do something like this. Fingers crossed though.

Rumours are circulating, putting 2 & 2 together i'd hazard a guess this will be their brand name for their new performance parts range they are going to release.

Agreed, I'm really hoping if that is what they are doing that there is plenty of work out into the Falcon past aswell as the Mustang future.

Maybe they will modify the other Fords in the range. Focus or Mustang.

I don't think so Tickford is part of Prodrive company will ever come back

Unfortunately, historically Ford have started and randomly shutdown their performance arms. The sooner Ford learn the "CONTINUITY OF BRAND" mantra, the better for us Ford tragics.

Cheers Mick

Prodrive are looking into opening a road car division tuning up cars, speculation is Prodrive using the Tickford name.

Probably just legally protecting/keeping the name and brand in their hands so it can't be used by another operation.

Something about this in the latest Wheels mag. Haven't read it but from what i gather Prodrive is bringing back the Tickford brand which encompasses enhanced Mustangs, Rangers and other Fords with FACTORY warranty. If true

Long live Tickford.

I reckon they are just saving the name so nobody else uses it. The Tickford vehicles always felt special compared to the "regular" cars.

Funny, I just followed an AUIII XR8 220 to work today. Seeing those Tickford badges reminded me of how much I loved the Tickford branding. I still beleive, to this day, that Ford could have persisted with the Tickford brand in place of FPV.

AMG and M are brands which work alongside Mercedes and BMW. They aren't their own range of cars, they're just the high performance engineering arm. M badges and AMG complement the vehicle, they don't replace anything. Tickford complemented FORD.

We didn't need to go down the route of HSV and create a whole new line of vehicle. I wasn't a fan of GTs not being FORDS, especially on the FG where they didn't even carry a blue oval badge. If I see a modified Mustang with a Tickford badge, though, I'll do cartwheels!

If it's true, bring in ON!

I suspect the people with whom the Tickford name has any value are closer to cashing in their super than buying a performance car....

Haha, yeah right! I'm 32 in December, so hardly an old bugger! Probably older at heart, though! Classic cars, music from the '60s through to the '90s... but I digress. I maintain that there's no reason why Tickford can't successfully make performance iterations of Fords sans Falcon.

So if this thing actually does get up and grow legs will Tickford be a proper Ford factory backed tuner or this time just another one of the aftermarket tuners? Anyone know?

Cheers Mick

Rumour has it an announcement will be made from the Sandown 500 on Sunday.
No idea if this is true - or what the announcement (if any) will be about.

FTR is back for 2017!(??) Ha.. ha

While the hotted up new stuff peaks my interest its performance Falcon componants to a very high standard that would have most of their potential customers interested.

A few comments made in passing makes me thing there will be a few Falcon bits in development.

This new venture will likely tie into the new workshop they are constructing either next year or 2018.

The Tickford name has been registered to "PRA Garage" which is owned by Prodrive Racing Australia. It will be interesting to see whether it is supported it by Ford.
It shows that PRA must expect to run Fords well into the future.

I think most of the people interested in Tickfords would be from their 30s and 40s because they would have been growing up when they were around.

Maybe, to the age bracket, and younger. They are already getting scarce and becoming collectibles. They are in the 'fun' stage of a collectible, where they are not worth an apartment in value so you don't stress too much about parking one in a restaurant car park.

It might make them desirable to kids from today on who see Tickford badges on the hugely aspirational 'stang, and whose Dad takes them camping/to the beach in a Tickford Ranger. Hey, they made those in the 90's??
