Default Confusion with Colour ICC/premium Sound

I want to upgrade my car sound system as the stock unit is next to useless perfromance wise . I have a 2004 BA Falcon with standard ICC with the exception that it has the 6 stack CD player

I've seen the postings that allow for a replacement of the standard ICC to a colour version for around $1,100. However if my understanding is correct the colour screen upgrade will make no difference to the sound quality of the CD player unless I then add an amplifier, a sub-woofer and better speakers using the RCA inputs that come with the colour screen upgrade.

That being the case is the $1,100 spent on the colour screen upgrade purely for aesthetical purposes?....I must be missing something here. When I'm sitting in my car 99% of the time I'm driving the thing and looking out the windscreen , so couldn't care less whether the screen is colour, monochrome or even polka dot for that matter. I just want a better performing hi fi set up.

So my question is this. Assuming I spend $1,100 for the colour screen upgrade (and spend nothing else for say a DVD player, sat nav, reverse sensors etc) what do I get for my money besides the fact my screen is now colour and no longer monochrome?

I'm not being critical or complaining here, I just need to understand the whole situation before i decide to proceed.

As I said the key thing for me is better sound but wonder whether the outlay of $1,100 for a colour screen will get me there. If not then I 'd have to consider an aftermarket CD player and forego the ability to use steering wheel controls, or worse use a line out filter on the existing CD player

Cheers
Peter

color screen is used to have reverse cameras (Safety), sat navs(travellers), dvd(entertainment), depending on the customers request, also it improves the looks of your interior. depending on how you look at it.

cheers
