Come mid 2015 I hope to pull the trigger on a fpv, it would be nice to see the falcon off with a gt in the garage.

I took delivery of the G6ET five years ago next month, which means I've had it three years longer than I originally intended too. I was going to trade it for a new one in 2010 then heard that a refreshed G6ET might be available later that year. It didn't happen, but in the meantime the FGII appeared. The change over figure quoted by the local dealer was just plain stupid, so I decided to wait for the sheet metal change that was alledgedly due sometime in 2012.

I'm still waiting for that one, but now I understand there's a heavily revised G6ET scheduled to hit the Ford dealership showrooms, maybe, possibly, it really did sound like a good idea at the time, sometime in 2014, not all that long before that factory is due to be mothballed.

I'll be first in line to buy one and am looking forward to it, but I won't be holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

I never considered myself to be the new car buying type, I just don't earn enough. With the announcement of closure I am very seriously thinking about how to make it possible whilst I have the chance.

I currently have a BF XR8 and I love the thing, but I guess it will have to be traded to help fund the new one. Hopefully Ford will be making the XR8 in late 2015/early 2016.

Just a question on dealers though, do you get better/different deals from different dealers? Or is it just a factory price arrangement across the board? I suppose different dealers might give me a different price on trade in, is that the only difference I can expect?

Dealers do sell at different prices due to varying factors, if you are trading in a vehicle then the only price you need to look at is the change over price.
We do have dealers on this Forum you can contact for assistance, where do you live?

Awesome DEALS ON OFFER NOW $39K drive away Falcon Turbo 5 year 200,000 km warranty, low interest rates, we all know the dealers will give a few more dollars off RRP its very good time to buy.

Just been quoted $38 drive away for a 2013 plate XR6 turbo manual with 5 year warranty & reverse camera. That seems a bloody good deal to me! Just don't know whether to go now or wait for the 2014 model.....

So the Falcon forum members are going to keep production going for another 40 months? Does anyone seriously think the man (only) in the street will keep supporting it to the bitter end?
In today's auto world 40 months is an eternity!

Hello to all, this is my first post on what seems to be a great forum. I'm in Adelaide and the proud owner of an EL which has not missed a beat in the last 12 years.

I wish to add my appreciation to those hard working Ford employees and wish them all the best in the future.

As the EL is getting on, i'm considering upgrading to my dream car....the XR6. As you would all know, there are great deals on them at the moment. Unfortunately, money is an issue to me (as I'm sure to many others) so could I please ask this: is there any risk that in 6 months time the prices will go up? I'm hoping they'll stay as they are now...or even drop a bit more?

Many thanks

There's absolutely no rush, 40 months of new stock will ensure that.

I am. Come 2016 I'll be in a position to buy a brand new car. It'll be one of the last XR6 Turbo utes. Manual of course, in the brightest colour available. I'll never sell it.

I thought about getting a gt in manual, but my current xr6 has the zf6 and I just love it too much to want anything else.

Production quality will remain high, very high. We love Ford Australia and Falcon. Love okay.
It upper management and dearborn that gave up on broadies and geelong, not the workers!
So quality and pride will still remain, and we will build until the lights go out.
Mate I have to say I was moved by your post as it is what I've always suspected, Fords are built by people who honestly try to make each car as good as possible to transcend the metal they are into a good mate. I've loved all my Fords for this reason, as they have personality and have never let me down.
I hope to God that come 2016 the dollar is down to 60 cents and there is a strong business case to keep Ford Australia going.
Looking at the support on these forums and buyers intending to buy the 2014 model falcon and terry we can hope these sales materialise and ford australia turns a profit. Hopefully an Abbott government will force government fleets to start buying Australian again and from early comments he's made, he does actually believe in the need to keep auto manufacturing here.

If however all this comes to pass I'd personally like to thank you and your fellow workers dedication and care to what you build, as the saying goes; Love your work.
BTW, the G6E-T is one hell of a lot of car for the money, and one of the most fun fords I've owned. Thanks again mate.

Unbeatable value for a factory spec 12 sec rocket.
With the edition of a ZF in 2009 Boosted paid $47k drive away for XR6T Sedan and just over 2 years ago I paid $40k for a XR50T Ute.

I have to say mate, I feel for you guys and I'm glad to see you're gonna keep the faith until the end. I've got a G6ET that, who knows, maybe you helped to screw together, and if you did, then I say thanks, because it is, without a doubt, an absolutely fantastic car. It's 3 years old and I haven't had a problem with it. I've always had Falcons, my Dad always had Falcons and my Grandad always had Fords (before the Falcon existed), so it's really hard to imagine a future without the Falcon.

It never ceases to amaze me, the people who comment about these cars being poor in value and features. For the performance you get, the size of the car and the features, I reckon they represent outstanding value. But even more than that, they're honest cars that are built for this country and their reliability and durability are outstanding, and I think that's something that's often overlooked and something that's hard to put a price on. I must admit, I'm probably the worst kind of customer for Ford, cause I keep my cars for the long term (10 years +), but I couldn't even begin to imagine buying an imported car to keep for the long haul.

I had some funds saved up for modding my turbo ute. But after the closure announcement I'm saving my funds to buy a 2016 FPV GTP with all the fruit. I'll miss the ute but I think that owning one of the last Falcon's with the SC335 will make up for it.

Please explain this statement.

Perhaps back in the 60s this was true when our road conditions were abysmal compared to the USA and Europe, but we have 'decent' roads these days, and Japanese/European cars do not fall apart.

That's a lot of car for the money.

If I needed a bigger car I would be snapping up an XR6T in a flash - have loved them since they launched! As a WRX driver, the idea of twice as much engine and three times as much turbo appeals to me.

I hope I am wrong but I reckon it is done.

The reason for such a long lead time - as I see it - is driven by:
- pump 'em out as long as they can without further new investment which would be required to comply with Euro V post October 2016
- they have to keep going until then as the Feds kick in so many $$$ for the 2014 update model so can't stop earlier without some sort of penalty clause
- so overall best overall bang for buck compromise for Ford NA as they want to spend the bare minimum from here on.

In parallel they want to maximise the return on their NA R&D and manufacture hence why Mustang is now going to be RHD - the timing is not an accident and is in keeping with their public One Ford Strategy.

I wish it wasn't so - have owned 6 Falcon/Territories out of a total of 9 cars (only one was non Ford and only because the Escape was a dud compared to the competition) but starting to think a Mustang GT in $50k's (based on similar pricing employed on the 300C) is looking attractive.

Ford would have to be well committed to an updated model post 2016 already for it to be a reality - and sadly they are not.

More to do with corrugations and coarse chip bitumen noise suppression.

Not sure where you live, but I don't have corrugations on my daily commute, and noise suppression in many imported cars is incredibly good.

Will an Abbott Government give us any chance of Ford changing its mind in a few years time??

Anyways, back to the point... I'm seriously hoping to get another new Territory before 2016. Our 2012 TS Diesel is just brilliant.

If I continue how I'm going work wise I could be steering a GTP late next year.
It would mean forgoing a house. But I think in this case it's worth it.
