Default Shims for DEV Cams

Just wondering are 2 standard 1.9mm ford shims enough shimming for a DEV3HL cam in an EL? Also is it the same amount of shims for a DEV5 cam or would that need 3 standard 1.9mm shims?

If you have the JMM cam there measure the Base circle diameter and work out the diffrence between the stock and the JMM cam. 1/2 the diffrence is how many shims you will need. I remember somone saying the dev5 had a 3mm reduction in base circle diameter, so you would need 1.5mm of shims.

I would say the cams would need 2 shims.

You forgot the rocker ratio is 2:1, so it's actually 3mm extra shim.

DEV3HL is good with 2mm of extra shim.

Rick.

Rick.

For some dumb *** reason i forgot which side the HLA was on!! Durh.

2*(BCD(stock)-BCD(dev5))/2) = shim height required.
