Did you miss the part about where Andrews refused ADF for the hotel security, and went with untrained security being paid cash in hand? They are saying nearly every case since can be traced back to that screw up.

So yes, it all comes back on him.

So by your way of thinking he should have personally made sure the 3400 stupids were at home?

Counting the figures released (so far) today, here is the graph for Australia since the pandemic began here back in March.

We've not quite reached the peak for cases nationally but we're also now very far from it and all the good work done over the period between early April and mid June has been undone.

The chart below shows that the current Victorian daily case rates are way above the NSW Ruby Princess peak of 212 recorded on March 28th.

Victoria now has almost 50 active cases per 100k of population whereas the National average is only 16 and that includes Victoria! No; at 50, it's not in the same league as the USA (576) or French Guiana (785) which the have worst active case rates but it's a lot higher than some.

Let's not let personal bias get in the way of a the truth.

The decision to choose security guards was made by a Government Department that was tasked with finding a solution to the quarantine mandate set down by the executive branch of Government.

They made the same decision that three other States made which was to use readily available security personnel and a number of companies that provide security personnel were engaged to provide staffing under contract - and any cash payments made were done by them not that it makes any difference.

Yes, with the benefit of hindsight they may not have been the best choice and they certainly should have been provided with better training (although the guidelines they were supposed to have followed included the provision of staff training) but they weren't and we got what we got.

It's extremely sad when people can't be trusted to do the right thing and isolate as requested/ordered. I thought guards were only necessary for prisons...

With over 1,000 fines issued in Victoria since the 'tightened' Stage 3 restrictions came into play, I think the evidence that people can't be relied on to do the right thing is self evident.

Was about to post saying that with attitudes like the below, it's no wonder the authorities are having trouble keeping things under control once a hot spot appears.

I just don't get it....

More than 200 people supposed to be under self-quarantine in Queensland have vanished, with most suspected of giving false contact details at the border.

Just another example of how today's society doesn't respect authority.

It doesnt surprise me at all. The lack of respect for authority and attitude I believe has been adopted from the same attitude the protesters had weeks back.

Me and the apprentice had to go and buy face masks last minute to enter a jobsite yesterday. Luckily there was a box left at the local chemist.
However, we both have beards and they didnt fit or stay on at all. And at $50 for 50 I wasnt impressed. On the side of the box, printed very clearly, 'made in wuhan, China'.
Might as well have said 'f you'

Russ, do you have a graph showing the fatality trend from the start? I believe the fatalities normally follow about 4-6 weeks behind the infection rate. Probably too early to tell if the deaths will follow the same initial trend.

Seen a lot of people wearing these masks lately. Do do not buy or use masks with a valve.

They only filter the air being inhaled. Exhaled air is unfiltered. If you're infected, these masks offer zero protection to others.

A few days after the "2nd wave" was confirmed, statisticians forcasted that, if Victoria was to have it under control, we would see a peak of 500+ by the middle of this week. Lets hope they are right! We almost got there today....

This analysis gives a prediction on peak dates, but not the number.

If we were to follow worse case, we should peak between 22nd to 26th July. Next 4 days crucial!!!

Ask the people who got awarded the deal to build the POS if it was a waste of money

Then there are friends of ours who jumped onto the safeapp. Encouraged (instructed) all their employees to download it. Over dinner they chastised me, the mrs and our young adult children for not using it. I tried to explain that it was a complete waste of time, money and effort, I tried to explain the premise of its success was based on false assumptions.

‘What would I know’ was the general reply... I do know it is hard to keep friendships with some people!

Russell could you define "CMR" there seems to be so many different ways of expressing these numbers it's starting to hurt my head.

I'm sure you did make mention of it earlier in the thread but at ~150 pages... you know.
