Had a large puddle of steering fluid under my power steering box last weekend. It wasn't overfliied. I refilled it and have driven 3 times this week, but it hasn't come out again?
Any ideas? |

Apparently there is an O ring on the high pressure hose on the pump that can fail. It may have taken up again. I would be worried that any fluid got into the alternator as alternators and steering fluid do not like each other. Could be an idea to have a look and clean it out if possible.

Hi. Its a sign that the steering box is well worn. The bush for the sector shaft wears on the sides and becomes oval in shape. In most cases the seal can allow for a bit of sideways movement on the output (sector) shaft but if you park the car and put a bit of load on the steering box by engaging the steering lock or park the car with the steering on full lock the output shaft can be pushed hard to one side and the seal cannot do its job. Wait until it starts dripping all the time as it will need a new bush to fix it. Cheers MD
