Hi Guys and Gals.

It sounds like you had a good day. I was hoping to go but Mothers day sort of put an end to that! My dad is in your Club (Max with the XP and the Compact). I met some of you last year when we came up for the Wheels on Wide Bay weekend in my Silver XY. Max went to the open day at the end of March and he enjoyed himself. I go along to the open days and help the Bowden family prepare all the cars and generally help out wherever needed. They are having another open day later in the year if anyone from your club missed out. The open days are awseome. You need to buy a Mother Bucket of Bowdens Own products to gain an entry ticket.

Cheers
John.

Very very jealous guys.

Alot of those cars I have seen at the DJR workshop before.

Some great pics there.

What I don't understand is why David has this awesome collection of cars but have them locked up for only a select few to see. I can understand that he doesn't want millions of punters walking around his collection day in day out, but it would be nice to see him let the die hard enthusiasts have a look. I guess what I am trying to say is that you guys, as a car club shouldn't have had to beg to see the collection. If that makes sense.

My 2 cents worth and I've been wrong before. A lot. Today.

The flip side to that is that restricting access makes seeing the collection that much more special. For me, I wanted see the Phase 4. Seeing it was like the holy grail. If it was on display somewhere all the time, I don't know that I would ahve the same reverence for it.

Plus, the facilities and the site really aren't geared to many large scale visits.

Cheers

There main reason why the collection isn't open to the public is because of the Insurance premium that it would attract and also public liability issues. As it is, the Bowden family have to jump through alot of hoops to open it to specialist groups like car clubs etc. Another reason is having to employ staff to make it happen every day of the week. The wages would most probably outweigh the revenue generated. When we have an open day, we clean every car that is on display. That is usually around 50 cars for a team of 6 - 10 people, so we are busy to say the least.

Cheers
John

Yeah I can see what you are all saying, but I wasn't saying open it to the public by any means, it just would be nice to not have to put in so much legwork to get a dedicated car club through to see it.

Yes, I see your point.

However, for me, the work was worth it.

I was inspired by the dedication, passion and hard work of the people. Stuff like that is food for the soul. And I told them so.

Cheers

I'd say that it will happen one day.

But, we'd have to leave it a few years. I'd hate to make pests of ourselves.

Cheers

And it showed (the cleaning I meant).

Insurance kills all sorts of things, because people claim like maniacs.

"Oh, I just tripped. I'll sue them for million."

Yes, there's legitimate claims. However, we are all paying the price for frivolous ones.

In any case, I can't fault Bowdens policy. What they are doing works - why stuff around with it?

Cheers
