Whats wrong with L plate drivers? Maybe it wasn't the Learners fault... Maybe the L plate was sitting on the back parcel shelf and someone decided to be smart and put it up and say it was a L plater. L platers are good drivers :P

Thats the problem with some people. They think that L and P platers are bad drivers and then they think theyre better.

Oh shi...

Roof damage is over where his/her mum/dad would be sitting. Lets hope theyre alright.

This just proves my point that Learners need to do as much driving as possible so they can hopefully avoid situation where this could happen.

Look at me the wise old 18 year old. But I can say I did ALOT of driving on roads with very heavy usuage. 110 zone with many trucks flyin past or needing to be overtaken. This was almost everyday driving to school. And a bit of city driving. And thankfully its all helped and I havent had any crashes or any really bad near hits. All the things that could have been bad I have been able to avoid becuase I was looking far down the road and paying attention.

Hopefully this thread doesnt get turned into a bash the L plater cos remember you all started out young and with little experience.

Thinking about it, it looks like a typical inexperienced driver who has dropped onto the dirt side of the road, then over-reacted and reefed the car back onto the road thus setting up a roll-over scenario.

L platers can be good drivers, as with anyone else on the road.

Exactly, I think sometimes people forget that Learners are exactly learning. Mind you P Platers are just over that part as well and many are still in the "learning" phase. I think sometimes people forget that too.

Correct.

Learners are learning and P platers are still learning. That said, it is a nasty crash - but its difficult to say whether its their fault at all....or if someone put the plate in the window as a gag..

now lets look at the rest of the damaged car auctions, for the 400 cars that don't have L or P plates on them.
now who can't drive.

Why would anyone in their right mind expect a learner driver to be perfect on the road......... they are Learning!!!!!!

I dont think I will be letting my son learn to drive in my XR6 in the next month or so now after looking at those pics :

hey fair go, give us a break....you are correct in saying that they are learners however they can drive....they may not be the best on the roads but they can drive. if they coudnt drive then they wouldnt be aloud on our roads. im a lil peeved off coz of the way that l-platers and p-platers are seen as either hoons or bad drivers. some are bad drivers and hoons dont get me wrong....but most of the l-platers i no of are very cautious of road rules and the cars around them. just be specific in the way u go about discrimitin l-plate and p-plate drivers

lets not turn this into an arguement boys! lol :

People that bag out learners are just arrogant at best. Everyone was a learner at one point.. and everyone had a point where they weren't very good at driving and mad mistakes.

I've been teaching my gf lately, and the amount of people that tailgate her, honk repeatedly when she takes more than 0.001s to react to a green light or when she takes a corner slightly slower than would be normal.. makes me ANGRY. I've never had "road rage" in my life until i've seen how some people these days treat learners. The other thing that we experience daily is, she'll be sitting perfectly on the speed limit (mostly 60 around here) and people sit so close to her tail you can't see their bumpers in the rear window, they're literally <2m behind her, and making hand gestures to hurry up.. WTF?!

I reckon most learner's mistakes are from being pushed/harassed by other drivers and they get nervous.

I still think funniest thing about this incident is the fact it was a learner that is supposed to have a responsible driver sitting next to them :

we all make mistakes while were learning to drive, at least driving off a cliff and landing upside down on a tree will teach this one a lesson...

I feel your pain mate, it's so frustrating being in the passenger seat watching that kind of stuff unfold. Had a complete nutter go around the right of my car as my g/f was turning right! It's times like that which make me think, I wish he did sideswipe my car and learnt a lesson. Get a nice payout from his insurance for a respray too.

Exactly, that is the time you learn. Sure it's the hard way to learn but it happens. For all you know the driver may not have contributed at all and is noe mentally scarred and doesn't want to drive again!
