Default F6 or GT? What's your opinion

I was once a F6 enthusiast however I was quickly converted to the GT after going down to Bathurst and hearing the beautiful sound of an 8 cylinder. I was so won over by that experience that I went and purchased a GT within 2 weeks of that day and I've never looked back.

So which car do you like and why?

Is there anyone out there who has owned both and can give a good comparison (pros and cons) of both?

Haven't owned either of the above, nor an 8 or T6 for that matter but when I get off my P plates I'd love to look at buying a V8. Nothing beats that sweet sound of 8 cylinders.

The F6 has a fantastic set up...I6T and ZF is just magical...

But I would go for an 8...the rumble and sound...cannot be beaten....

If i wanted a quick car with a easy tune Id go F6. But as a cruiser Id be happy with a GT. Im assuming an NA GT aswel. If we are talking the S/C GT, then no questions asked, GT-P for me FTW.

I prefer 8 cylinders honestly. F6 seams to have a great engine. But I like a good old v8

V8 All the way
The rumble on idle & the roar as you put the foot down
Plus, I'm not a big fan of hearing woop woop woop woop everytime I let off the throttle (not that all f6's do that)

In the past it was easy to see the split in decisions people made.

Modders who wanted a balltearer went the F6
Cruisers and purists went the traditional Boss..... the odd Super-V8 Modder who couldnt hack the 6 cylinder note went Boss+Boost

Now she's a game changer... unless you want the BFYB stock package found in the ZF auto F6... which is proven to run super-deep into the 12's stock I might add... you have the Miami GS and GT

Stripper or Luxo
Fast or Faster
Auto or manual
Moddable to the hilt.

The Miami does it all, nowhere else can you see almost 100rwkw with a flashbox, combined with off-idle grunt and an intoxicating mix of blower whine and V8 note.

The all-singing, all-dancing, all-juggling FPV Miami!

The F6 runs an Aussie engine - the I6 from Geelong. The GT runs some Yankee V8. I have nothing against Americans, just supporting the local product.

Sure the V8 sounds better, but that noise indicates inefficient use of energy. The I6 weighs less (I presume) and means the car is less nose heavy.

Go the Aussie donk! :^)

Fair enough on the support Aussie, but its fighting a losing battle to be honest.

As for efficiency, its been proven in various calculations that the Miami makes more power not only per psi boost, but in outright power per litre, per psi as well.

There is not much weight difference either, you would be surprised.

Pre-the new 5.0 engines, it would have been F6 all the way, 5.4l wasn't great. If you're looking at an F6 V a supercharged 5.0, I doubt many on here have owned both for a good comparison.

What you should do is test drive both engines yourself and decide what's right for YOU. As others say, the I6T/ZF combination is just awesome, but by all reports the new V8 is a cracker. Good position to be in.

Owned both, currently own neither.

Both are capable of performing above the skill set possessed by more than 95% of drivers.

On the drag strip or circuit both will get thrashed by someone who can drive in a $5000 track toad regardless of how much you spend on mods. They are road cars not race cars.

On the road both are capable of going as fast as you are game where ever you want to go.

Both can be as overt or as subtle are you want.

You can either buy the one YOU like or the one that OTHERS like, it just depends on who you are buying the car for and why.......

F6 with its spike in torque makes it feel faster stock for stock.

The GT's torque is there straight away.

I thought the F6 was more fun though. But the V8 sound is increbible.

The FPV Coyote, Miami, BOSS is/was R&D'ed here, assembled here and is more 'Australian' than lots of others floating about. If you want to support 'Australian Made' buy either.

Noise indicates inefficient use of energy?????? Best and most efficient 5 litres I have ever had!! Don't presume .....

They all make noise, it's just that it is muffled (strangled) by the exhaust system, so they are all equally in efficient, till the noise (strangulation) is released.

PS GT all the way, had the F6 it's nice, but just another turbo buzz box IMO.

ok have had , TC CORTINA , TE CORTINA, XF FALCON, EL FALCON , EL XR8,BA GT, FG GT, AND FG XR6 .
in my honest opinion . we're spoilt for choice .
the choice for a daily has to be a statndard 6CYL CAR . NO FUSS NO WORRY , AND GOES ALL DAY EVERYDAY .

FOR DIE HARD ENTHUSIASM . it is no doubt a GT . another honest opinion , after driving an F6 , a GT driver has some doubt in his mind that maybe he should've picked the F6 !!!!

i'm qualified to comment . as a daily a stock na 6 everytime .
for a show off drive its the GT . ( Your more comfortable when your GT is at home safe in the garage ,and its probably not a mental illness to sit in the garage and have a beer with it . but doing that with an f6 or xr6 alerts the sanity gauge .) and the f6 is for bringing yourself close to the ultimate heart attack , but its NOT a GT .
