Usually Glasses Guide or Redbook. both of which are industry recognised.

The data in these publications is updated monthly based on actual sale average sale prices obtained from offical statistics. Keep in mind that Advertised prices that you see in sales ads are usually not the sale price of the vehicle.

also

bit puzzling that the fg is almost double the value of the focus and yet the premium is about $50 less.

65 Galaxie left-hooker, fully comp, valued at $25,000, garaged, less than 10,000km per annum, 34 year old main driver, no drivers under 30 (although anyone over 30 is covered, I think), $250 excess, no idea about No Claim Discount, costs me $325 a year.

I ran a quote through Youi - keeping in mind my insurance is $1073.
My car is garaged at home, parked on company premises during the day when at work, does less than 15000km/year, yet the quote was $1800

Cant beleive some of the premiums paid here. I guess age is a big factor, when i got my old T2 TE50 in 2006 i was 23 first year of insurance was $1800~. It was still about $900 when i got rid of it, so my XR5 is cheaper and insured for twice as much

I have the same problem with my Fez and the Fairmont Ghia. AAMI told me "its because the Fez is European and parts are more expensive and harder to source than a Falcon model"

Funny thing is, our 2006 Peugeot isn't much more expensive to insure than my 14yo Falcon? Difference is $80pa. Being a Euro, I would have thought that the cost difference would have been higher than that. Falcon = $400pa. Peugeot = $480pa.

Yeah the prices here are unbelievable. Thats one of the main reasons i started the thread to give blokes a bit of guide, and maybe give them some incentive to shop around. I realize its all to do with age/history/postcode, but some of these prices are all over the place. But i guess its all relative? In 1989, i was 19 and owned a 1986 AS Telstar TX5 turbo and it was regarded as a performance car (stop laughing!!!). I think the insurance was around $800-$900, which was a hell of a lot of money for 1989. So i guess when you see young blokes paying $2000+, maybe insurance hasnt gone up that much at all in 20 odd years?

Both cars in my sig. with all listed mods, youngest driver 37yo, with CGU, 60% NCB, $300 basic excess, 1 free windscreen a year per car for $900 pa. Can make 1 claim per 12 month billing cycle and not lose NCB. Eg, made 2 claims in 2 years on my old NF, second time a write off, both roo strikes and still got to keep the NCB. can't complain about that.

Shannons done the best deal for my bunch of cars,

XB GT - $150(laid up cover)
Porsche Boxster - $800(limited use policy)
Nissan Navara 4x4 - $312(daily driver)
XH Panel Van - $450(daily driver)
XF Falcon Ute - $102(daily driver)

I'm rating 1 65% no claim bonus which makes a huge difference. I done an only quote for the Navara the other day with 0% no claim and it came to $1245. I done it again with 65% no claim bonus and it came to $500. Then when I called they took into account my other policies and dropped it to $312.
