Drifting (going sideways)

lol, seems like there is some interest out there on this topic.

Anyone out there actually drifing e-series (and im not talking about hanging the back out when you pull out of maccas)

My cars just lame. Its an open wheeler so any attempt at drifting will most likely result in my death.

Any (legal) pics, vids, techniques,etc to share?

I got nothing e-series, but just to kick things off some stuff from our crazy Japanese friends

Me either, I can get a lot of opposite lock in the mini with a bit of handbrake action in the wet. Im too scared to try it in a full sized car on the road. Too many telephone poles :P

Rollin is an e-series drifter.

high speed drifting the an e-series is way to tense for me a big falc on drift is just scary. slow and steady sidways with a bit of brake and a nice LSD is the closest thing i get to drifting.

We always muck round out on my mates property. Mine is way to sloppy and it's on superlows! Make it bit harder cos my LSD isn't all that LS anymore and sends the car into fully sick tank slappers when ever it feels like it! lol

i would say i've very mildy drifted my car... just taking wide corners hard and tight enough to get the whole car to slide a little. i'm not really game to try a full proper drift. i love just hanging the *** out in the wet hehe

There are a couple of Falcons i have seen drifting. Can only find photos of this EA though, there are some of EF/EL's at drift days floating around somewhere too.....

I guess to actually get some alright drifts happening in a big fat falcon you would need at a minimum:

-Good suspension setup
-LSD
-Manual
-Weight reduction wouldnt go astray either

Checkout the movie 'Drift Bible' if you want to know/learn all the techniques of drifting from shift lock, power over, getting proper weight transfer, how to setup your car for begginer-advanced drivers etc

when i went to a drift day with Rollin it was great to see this monza red eb among all the ricer types going hard. and hearing the people around you go 'wtf is that thing doing here' then 'wtf, thats awesome!' as soon as hes sideways.

I've been thinking seriously about buying an EA-EB to use as a drifter, I reckon an ex-Saloon car would be a good start, and adding a 4.0 with a few mild upgrades to begin with, you don't need 500bhp to drift, although it helps

Anyone got a donor car? :P

It's very difficult to do proper drifting with an umbrella-brake, but you could probably get around it with left-foot braking. I've got the wagon sideways a few times in the wet (not hard) and it handles like a boat, which I put down to rear leaf suspension and worn re-treads

I still see drifting as backyard fun rather than a competition sport, but it'd be fun to hire out a skidpen with a few friends.

My car doesn't have enough power to drift properly, I have some fun with the manual and the LSD, but there's just not enough grunt and control to really hammer it.

I've seen a fair bit of footage from aussie drift comps, but nowhere near as fast, close or as mad as these blokes! The skill of the guys in the 1st vid are unbelievable

Tried it and still do it BUT only as play in industrial estates just after its been raining.

The results are;
1. The wagon does it way better since becoming manual and with the new motor, just tap the accel and it breaks traction. I have settled down with the wagon after a incident where I aquaplaned over small dividing island coming out of a corner sideways.

2. The R33 is as if thats what is meant for, so easy to control and the drifts that you get out of it are amazing, with so little effort you end up frequently sideways. So easy to get back into a straight line too. The R33 is great to drift in tight spots as for the wagon you need quite alot of space to fit its big *** on the road when sideways.

Gotta Luv Drifting, its awesome but like everything can have costly and deadly consquences.
