Default A 1975 gl Escort for $2 to-$6.6 Million US dollars

Reading todays Melbourne HeraldSun on page 5 Pope John Paul II's only car he ever owned is going under the hammer in LasVegas on June the 3rd and could fetch between 2 to 6.5 million US dollars.
It was bought at auction in 1996 for $132,000 US by a american.

Wear a funny hat and anything is possible.

Cardinal Ratsinger's car (he's now Pope Benny for those who dont know) was apparently bought by an online casino.

Well if anything it means you wont get any speeding tickets......

A limosine driver is scheduled to pick up the Pope from an airport. As the Pontif greets his entourage, he comes to the limo driver. "Greetings your Holiness" says the limo driver, "it's my pleasure to take you wherever you need to go".
The Pontif whispers into the drivers ear "Can I drive?I havent driven in a long time and I'd like to see what it is like again".
Not wanting to refuse the holiest man in the world, the limo driver agrees and takes his seat in the back, while the Pontif drives.

The Pope struggles to start the limo, much to the worry of the regular driver, but eventually he gets it going and is soon enough flooring it down the freeway, not realising there are speed limits in place.
All of this draws the attention of a Police Cruiser which promptly gives chase and pulls the limo over with lights and siren.
The officer goes to the window of the limo and as it comes down is shocked to see the Pope at the wheel. The Pope smiles and says "what Can I do for you my son?".
The officer runs back to his Patrol car without saying a word and gets onto the radio. "Get me the Sergeant!" he says in a worried voice. Thinking something is happening, the Sergeant answers him. "Whats the problem?!".

"I've pulled over someone really, really important and I dont know if I should give him a ticket or not".
The Sergeant replies "well who is it and what have they done?"
The Officer says "I think it may be Jesus!".
Stunned, the Sergeant replies "what on earth makes you think that?!".

"He's got the Pope driving for him". :hihi:

Wow, that's stupid money in my opinion.

Still, I guess if someone was stupid enough to offer me that sort of money for my Escort, I wouldn't have to think about it for long...

It would have to be the European Escort as the americans had the Ford Pinto's in 1975 plus a Fiesta small ford was released in 1978. Ford's US small cars in that period included the Mustang.
