Default 6 Hour Relay. Phillip Island

To those who entered in our 2 awesome teams, to the timers, caterers, beer bringers, spanner helpers, milk getterers, sash changers, and everyone else, a big... no HUGE... THANKYOU

Always aiming to finish better than the previous years, we started from Grid 17 and 18. Team "Falcon Hell" were in the top 10 all day. "Falcon Tough" were in the top 20, then a dodgy dorian saw a glitch and have us drop to 48th only to fight back with a vengence.......

I'm stoked with our 5th(Hell) and 6th(Tough) finish.

Started friendly...

Then the red mist was there

Falcon Hell

Chris, who unfortunately popped a head gasket

Matt who did the most fuel runs we reckon........

Roland "The Mayor"

Mark - PIN #53 man.......

Falcon Tough

Vin- aka Leadfoot Larry

Rob who as a DJR fan was happy to start from Grid #17

Carey, who without 5th gear was still clocking 1:58's!

Keith our Wingman

There was also next door our "surrogate team" - Team XD with club members in it.

Other club members- didn't get one of Michael who was with PIARC, and EDXRSW who was with GCC, and a couple other with 'stangs......

Once I sort through the plethera of photos, I'll get them up on the club website.......

The VL in the background of one of the pics- 40th.
Brand new R35 was in a team that finished 40th, another R32 finished 30th, and a white R31 was in the team that got 24th.

FPV8U - depends on your car. Sure the seat, but brakes and tyres were the main things to watch for- some kept standard seats in. You are only out there for 15 laps at a time, then you come in and your teammate goes out. So think of it as a long club sprint.

KPOJ - if you haven't yet done one- it's a must.
Craig and the boys weren't having a good day on Saturday- they started with 5 stangs and were own to 1 ! By Sunday morning i think they were back to 4.
There were 3 teams - wide stripes, classics and mustang porsche
Wide strips and loud pipes- 11th
mustang porsche - 16th
Classics - 17th.

I might give the old girl a go next year, what was the fastest time you were allowed to run?
1:55 or 1:50...

Was their much carnage?

EDIT: how much track time did you get per car?

Fantastic Result to be enjoyed by all who were there over the weekend whether you were involved by being a driver, to helping the teams out or just came down for the day to support the club. Thanks must also go to GBG as her drive and motivation for this event paid off with the results and keeping everyone focussed on what they should be doing. I was 'lurking' around on the Saturday and it was great to see that everyone was helping each other out no matter what the task. Unfortunately on Sunday I wasnt around the garages very much as helped out on the Recovery Team (and no need to tow anyone back in from our teams : )

At the end of the day, an opportunity was given to all competitors/crew/friends & family to do a lap of the track. Here are some of the photos that I took

1:55 is the fastest. And although there were a few that went faster on perhaps one lap, remember there are 50 cars on the track- ie 7 into the same corner, so it generally knocked a sec or two off your average lap time.
Lap times depend on how many cars- in our teams it ranged from 20-odd to 46.
Sat practice saw most of our guys get around 30 laps - some more, some less.

The fastest allowable time was 1m55s with quite a few teams/cars being black flagged and an imposed penalty applied for breaking this time.
With my 'recovery hat' on, to say that there was 50 cars on track at any one time with the varying levels of driver capabilities (not forgetting that this is only a Level 2 licence requirement) there was only one car to car incident at turn 9, two cars glanced a wall (and both continued on) but the biggest 'carnage' of the day/weekend was mechanical reliability as that is what 98% of the recoveries were for.

Well done all! :

What a great result. Looks like a particularly well oiled operation with experience really paying dividends.

I don't know how I am going to squeeze myself back into the team! :

I'm thinking maybe wait until the next time it rains then bring out the secret weapon - AWD, 6-speed, multi-cam......Territory!!!!!!!

Thanks! We're really happy with our result. Was good to have a bit of banter between the two teams, but still if anything went wrong, everyone would pitch in.

Now... about that 24 hour at Winton next Easter...............

I think I said it last year also, but as much as I'd love to be out there on the track also, its still a great feeling be involved, helping out and to be amoungst a great group of people. Three cheers for GBG and her organisational skills, and to everyone that came down to drive, help out or simply support our club!!
