Absorbing HOLDEN would've been like contracting AIDS.

GM's global dumpster is full of nasty, contagious diseases.

Holden's problem is not negative talk, it's that no one is talking about them. they are a forgotten brand.

I will tell you this!
David Buttner was brought into Toyota many a years ago to do 2 main things

1. Shutdown Local Manufacturing
2. Shutdown the Sydney Headoffice and relocate/consolidate/retretch staff to the
Melbourne office.

These discussions were had years, years before it actually happened.
Im sure Holden is paying him the big bucks to COME OUT OF RETIREMENT, to do the something similar. It wont happen today or in the next few years, but just like Toyota, it will happen.

Now, with regards to Holden problems. Lets start with the basic 4 Ps

Product: Disjointed, confusing. Is it GM, is it Korean, is it PSA?
Price: Heavily discounted - so from a consumer perspective good. Profitability = Bad
Place: Originally loads of dealerships around Australia, but Holden Dealers are losing
confidence with the brand. Many are shutting down and not many are taking up
new dealerships.
Promotion: They are spending quite alot of money through different media channels on
brand and retail campaigns. Channels that have worked traditionally for
them and for amounts that other brands would be envious of.
Rumour has it that they are meeting with some social media companies
(at head office overseas) to find a fix..........its not a marketing channel
problem. Its a brand issue........
