Default Winton Funday 3rd of July

Got this email today if anyone is interested.

Winton Motor Raceway would like to invite you and your family to participate in the FUN DAY being held on Saturday the 3rd July, 2010.

Saturday 3rd July, 2010

Gates Open: 8.00am

Cost: $30 per participant

When arriving at the circuit, participants should set up for the day in the support paddock area. In addition to the carports available in this area, 30 powered garages (shared) will be available to hire for the day. To avoid disappointment on the day participants should contact the Winton Administration Office prior to the event if they wish to hire a garage.

All participants (including passengers) must register for the day from 8.30am at the Dutton’s Paddock Office.

Participants must wear flame retardant clothing, ie. cotton, wool, etc. No Nylon. When driving on the circuit, participants must wear clothing that covers them from the neck to wrist to ankle and closed shoes (no thongs, sandals, etc). Helmets must be worn for on track activity.

Cars must have a safety check before going onto the circuit, so we ask that you ensure your vehicle is in a safe roadworthy or race worthy condition for the duration of the activity. No oil leaks or fuel leaks. All cars must be fitted with an effective muffler and must not exceed 95dB (A). This event is for cars only.

The day will be structured with sessions for driver only and sessions for driver and passengers. There will be a compulsory driver briefing at 10.00am, any competitors that are unable to attend the drivers briefing must be briefed by a Winton Official, before going onto the circuit.

Come along and join in the fun at Winton Motor Raceway.

It is not too bad, you just have to have a bit of confidence, most people do the right thing, there are some tossers out there, but if you treat everyone as a ****** then you will be OK

It was the biggest amount of paid entries ever, some 475 people paid to either drive or go as passengers.

We did about 70 - 80 laps and went through about 120 litres of Ultimate - YIKES!!!, but it was fun.

Here is a pic of our XE with me driving and a bloke out on holidays from Ireland, only ever been in a 2 litre - hehehehe, pity you didn't take more pics of it - LOL.

And that is my mates Bluebird (with a 302 Windsor in it) just in front of me.

Does anyone know who owns that TS(E)50 that was there, (3rd photo down) it didn't seem to have much punch, or was the driver not having a go?

That bluebird had one of the nicest sounding V8s there... I'll see if I've got any other pics of your XE on my PC at home which haven't been uploaded yet

Did the T have any rego plates on it? If it did (might have a picture front on at home...) we might be able to find out from there.

No, it didn't have any plates on it.

Yeah, that little Windsor does sound good, but it was off-song the whole weekend, it is normally about 2 seconds a lap quicker than the XE, but we were passing him, but it doesn't matter. (BTW, the owner of the Bluebird posts on here under the guise of Pedders Bendigo - so he should read this)

lol, what's wrong with a million cars out there at the same time.

the fun days are good to get a feel for the track but if you want to enjoy the day more & have a decent go a track day is way better or the winton sprints if your after short runs for a cheaper price.

The fear of too many drivers with little ability who think they have a lot of ability and clean up my 70k car and no insurance.

The incidents that have happend at the Fun Days I could count on one (maybe 2) hands, and I have been going to them for years.

By far the worst was the bloke in the Monaro who hit the wall in his company car.

As far as car to car contact, I can only think of one that I know of, and that was 2 mates in Commodores being lard-heads with each other.

considering some of the clown that get out there the people who run the fun days do a fantastic job to keep the action clean & remove the clowns. the days serve a great purpose to cheaply get people onto the track. it beats trying to learn the track on a proper track day.

Yes, you need a secondary bonnet restraint for the Sprints.

Here is youtube of the Monaro crash, company car too. The driver did something weird and it hydroplaned into the wall. I was in charge of the Safety Team that day, I was amazed no-one was hurt.

as my car has a 2 stage bonnet catch that needs a key to open it i didn't have to put in a 2nd restraint. i made sure of this by calling to find out before hand
