Default Illegal to Work On Your Own Car at Home

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I29KDz_RCo0 I know a few stupid Australian councils have these laws too. I guess we'll have to hide in the shed with the lights off and the doors locked.

A couple of business illegally running out of their homes here where I live, there's one behind me, I don't particularly care, he's got about 10 wrecks sitting around in his front yard, the overheads of having a workshop are nuts so if someone can make some coin operating out of home it doesn't worry me.

We don't particularly associate with any of our neighbours, we don't talk to them, stay the **** away from me because I'm not interested, been here for 25 years and we don't know any of them nor are we interested.

The only interaction with them was one three doors up threatened to beat me up because of my loud car firing up at 5AM

The best neighbours are ones who keep to themselves - the dramas come from nosy pricks who are the ones ringing council every 2 seconds.

Iím the street bogan, Whirlpool Whinger would be all over me. DIY-ing my fleet, beehives in the yard closer than 3m from the boundary, fruit trees growing in the grass verge, unauthorised dog water bowl beside the footpath...

Don't mind the home owner doing his own odd maintenance work on his own vehicle during reasonable hours and abide by the laws on noise levels, I'm opposed to people running businesses in residential areas as I'm a shift worker and I have nearly come to the stage of murdering a few neighbours flouting the laws for their own selfish needs.

Cheers.

Typical Republic of Commi-fornia dumb**s laws. probably linked to their CARB laws.

Hello neighbor! I'm pretty sure you threatened to punch me up at 5AM around this time last year

The irony about that guy is he runs a personal training gig out of his house and I'm pretty sure it's cash only

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!

Doing Millennials a solid by keeping house values down in your neighborhood

The guy behind me with the wrecks in the front yard, I've got two cars parked in the front garden and the guy opposite me has like 3 families living in the one joint with cars everywhere.

Low socioeconomic-ville ftw

The big thing is not having dead cars in your front yard,
that's what really gets the neighbors worked up.

I have the Fairmont garaged, wheel the shell out so I can work on engine
and gearbox under cover in the garage and then at the end of the day,
I put everything inside again under lock and key every night.

Yeah it's annoying when other people who don't live in your house don't know when you're trying to sleep at non-conventional hours. Shame on them.

It is worse when they do know you a shift worker and don't give a frag and believe me this creates very bad blood.
Worse part is trying to keep the peace with the cook who refrains me from doing horrible little nasties things to one particular neighbour.
I honestly can understand why situations can certainly get out of hand.

Cheers

Yes, you can thank all those crap block type (hype) reno shows for this.

I'm more offended by councils using those leafblowers before 7am than anything.

If youíre unlucky to have noisy neighbours youíd want to hope you also have the right types of neighbours to help counter them.

I have a national park behind my property and a few years back the trail bike riders on the weekend were driving us all insane as theyíd ride pass our back fences.

I never said much when the neighbours were complaining other than to say I remember when I was young and things along that line to make it look like I was easy on the subject.

I didnít have to say much as Iím lucky to have a few elderly residents along the street and a woman with a new born and they did all the work for us.

They never stopped complaining to the Police and the Nation Parks and Wildlife Service and theyíd phone them as soon as they heard the bikes and the Police and Rangers would come out and hem the riders in.

Being young unlicensed riders on unregistered bikes in a prohibited area started to become costly for them and to make things worse they were damaging the walking trails which got up the noses of the Rangers and they have now all but disappeared.

You occasionally hear one during the school holidays but the neighbours are straight on the phone and the Rangers are there quick smart to grab and deter them.

Elderly residents and woman with babies are what you need as neighbours as they have the time and/or the motivation to cause a big fuss.

So get into the ear of a retiree in the street and get them working for you.

They may not have the power to change much if the noisy neighbour isnít breaking the law but they will annoy the hell out of the authorities so as proper investigation into the activities will be carried out and real solutions will be sort.

Iím an ex-council engineer and neighbours quarrels were a daily issue for us and theyíre something I will never miss as all logic flies out the window in these circumstances.

Back in the 70's I had a dirt bike any my mate next door had a Honda Z50 with a track going around his house that he would ride everyday pudrick pulled the muffler off and put a ****s pipe on it, I never heard my mum complain about him riding it at all.

But I would take off for the bush and some bastard would ring the cops directly, I never road around the house, but I was off riding like 10 miles away and then come back like. I could of went into the bush across from my house but it was too swampy their so I would ride up the side of the road say 40m and into the bush, that way I was out and gone on a Suzuki TS125 that was not loud at all.

I have young blokes riding fully flat out past my place and f ing loud as, it does not bother me but why flat out like that other than that I don't give a rats what they do. we have enough rat bags in cars going flat out past but it does not bother me really, some want speed bumps on our street, but to hell with that as that's much worse to hear cars slowing down and taking off thumping into and over them and crashing of stuff in the back of trays or trailer's is a 1000 times worse and I am not standing for that at all.

Here in brisbane it is specifically illegal to run a business from home. Noise and mess in the yard are a bit more ambiguous but if someone complains they will speak to the property resident.

I have to say I'm rather surprised so many of you seem to have issues with your neighbours. I know most of the people here in the village and most are extremely nice people. My neighbours both sides are lovely. The amilies are always apologising for the kids making a racket but I don't mind that at all. Kids are kids. I apologise for the cr*p in my front yard but everyone tolerates it.

I know I'm lucky. Bad neighbours are a misery...

I've built cars at every house I've lived in both rented and owned. Plenty of welding and grinding (daytime) and the the odd parts car (covered on the driveway)
I simply communicate with my neighbours. Ask them if I'm being to noisy or encroaching in anyway. I've never had an issue that way, some of them have even enjoyed watching the cars being built, seeing me grinning on maiden and tuning voyages. They even look out for the cars when I'm not there.
Its not that hard is it?
