Default 1/4 mile times

Hi i am just trying to get an idea on what ET you would probably get if u can do 0-100 in like 8 seconds?
sorry a bit weird question im just trying to figure out and average 1/4 mile time for the pannie. If anyone could help me out with some good info thanks is appreciated.

Using some maths, with an accellaration of about 3m/s/s (worked out from your 8 seconds to 100km/h value) you woudl do the quarter mile in about 16.3 seconds.

edit: remember conditions at the track may prove different, so simple maths is not the real answer. There are some calculators on the net somewhere that will allow you to put in some details about your car, weight, power, etc, and you can get a better indication of your ET.

Thats great that u can do that FordACE what about a 100km in 7.6seconds?

well, using the exact value you gave me for 0-100km/h, your car should do the quarter in 14.79 seconds. As i said earlier though, there are other factors involved that may hinder this time

oh and pannie, using your exact figure, which i didn't before so i woudln't get your hopes up about your cars speed, 8 seconds to 100km/h would mean about 15.18 seconds to the quarter.

can someone answer me this: cause it might make things easier for me to get an even better figure, am i correct in saying that a cars accelaration would certainly be reduced once it is past 100km/h? I can only work on averages with the calculations i used above, but the average is taken from 0-100km/h, and i assume that accelaration would decrease somewhat after 100k/hr.

oops sorry posted it twice, and it prob would decrease after but then theres the fact that its already rolling going instead of standing still trying to get to that speed.

as i've said, taking the car to the track is certainly the answer to getting your cars ET. What i have calculated is very inaccurate because I would require more information about the cars accelaration after 100km/h. The other things is, at the track, off the line, you are probably going to get wheelspin and you'll lose time there. So, the answers I am giving are very theoretical.

I am going to put the maths down here for everyone to use, it's very simple.

s = ut + (1/2)a(t^2)

where:
s = displacement (ie 400m)
u = initial velocity ie (0m/s)
t = time (in seconds)
a = accelaration (m/s/s)
(1/2) = half
(^2) = to the power of 2

the other equation to work out your accelaration from your time to 100 is:

v = u + at

where:
v = velocity (in m/s)
a = acceleration (in m/s/s)
and the others have the same meaning as above.

so initially you use the second equation to work out your accelaration in m/s/s, and then you plug that into the first equation to calculate time to displace 400m.

yeh your doing well though. i need new rear tyres aswell as fronts are going to be done soon but at the moment im going around a corner or round about normally and the back ends kickin out coz of less traction.

thanks mate.

how do you guys get your figures to 100km/h? is it with a timer, or something else? cause even those figures would be inaccurate... Oh well, nothing can ever be 100% accurate, there is always margin for error.

im using a G Tech which has been proven to be real accurate in the past. its been tested on the track in sum cars etc. and came real close like .2 seconds over i think it was. i've tried using timer but alot harder this wil start as soon as the car starts to move then wil stop when u hit 100.

so the G Tech doesnt' give you an approximate 1/4 time? I thought some of them did.

yeh it does but i gotta find sumwhere off the streets that goes for over a 1/4 mile first so i can do that time coz i would b travelling fairly fast at the end of it. it gives u a horse power read out aswell
which is calculated at the wheels which has a couple horses off from the dyno run on a silvia my mates had it in
