That is correct.

Been trying to deal with this for a couple of weeks now. Not that easy to blow the whistle on somebody you work with, with no actual proof. Just hoping the regulations that the gov put in place work as I said in my other post.

Re - Uber legal in NSW

I have read half the 150 page report so far...seems a reasonable compromise...except for the low license compo, that one will end up in court.

Taxis retain rank/hail and airport work, many rules and regulations relaxed.
Maximum fares set by govt for this work.

Uber and anyone else who gets the correct license, rego and insurance can pick up pre bookings anywhere else they like. Taxis can do this to.
Charge whatever you like for this service.

Now watch the chaos unfold...

If taxis want a level playing field they couldn't possibly be happy with Uber not being allowed to use taxi ranks or pick passengers up off the street...

Part of the new deal in NSW is the relaxation of the taxi inspection rules, some of which go too far IMHO.

Taxis used to go thru a fairly rigid RWC inspection every 3 months & apart from being just roadworthy they had to be presentable. They had to have clean & straight panels, clean windows & interior, a/cond must work, windows must operate, signage & decals all must be present, etc. etc.

Under the new rules virtually all of this is now longer required. Taxis can have dirty mis-aligned panels, torn seats, filthy windows, inoperative a/cond & window winders etc. etc.

To me this sounds like the RMS have caved in.

Vehicles must still be roadworthy at all times just like any Joe Public car, but just one yearly roadworthy inspection now.

Customer must not take "bad" taxis/ubers and are now doing RMS's compliance job.
