Brake pad cost Focus LT

G'Day guys,

My Ford service centre charged me $352.00 to change the rear brake pads.

Is this reasonable?

from memory the retail on a bendix general pad for the 07 focus was in the range of $100
take into account that these would be 'genuine'
and then about 30-60 mins labour
it seems resonable
when the fronts go
see if you can do it yourself
the front is easier then the back
if you can youll pay about a 3rd of the price

Wouldn't pay more than $100 for pads (both) plus labour. There are a few threads on this, may want to do a search.

With chaning the rear pads.. a mate helped me do mine recently.
$80 for the Bendix pads.
The trouble began when we had to push the piston back in.
We needed a tool that has 2 prongs on it. All of the universal tools we found were the wrong spacing between the 2 prongs so we ended up using an old socket set, and grinding it down to make 2 prongs.

Asked Ford if they sold this tool, and they said they have it but cant sell it.

Its for a 2008 Focus (Not Zetec or XR5).

Anybody know where I can source this tool from?

You could try contacting this eBay seller in the UK, prices seam quite reasonable especially compared to the Aussie places. Maybe send them an email and ask if it will suit the Focus if not they may have the tool needed. It does appear to be a fairly universal tool so it may be OK.

it needs a reasonable amount of pressure applied whilst turning too. the right tools would definitely make it a less painful experience.

as for pricing,

i got bendix fronts for $75 and generic brand (they had no bendix in stock, i needed pads) rears for $52. thats $127 for front and rear pads.

for those in SA, for all your brake needs, don't go past All Clutch and Brake at St Marys. you can't beat their deals.

just to dig up an old thread, Race Brakes will be doing my back rotors (RDA slotted) and EBC pads, fitted for $355 - Happy with that
