Hi Guys,
I'm currently considering an XR5 turbo as a replacement to our shopping trolley and was hoping for some feedback from those who have or will take delivery of one. General feelings, thoughts etc would be appreciated! |

I don't own one. But they are one mighty fine car! Definitely my next vehicle.
There is a review of the XR5T and SRi in another thread.... As for more information, heaps of owners are here; www.fordxr5turbo.com - just keep clicking Forums and you will get there eventually. So what are you upgrading from? All I know is they sound sweet from the outside....

I don't own one, but my Dad has driven one, but this is what he said...
Defiantly i mighty fine vehicle, if only it wasn't FWD... But once it gets moving and torque steer isn't much of a issue, then its fun |

ive heard only positive raps from people who have test driven it...although the omission of a six speed auto or even cruise control boggles the mind...
but hope you can wait 6 months! my local ford dealer in essendon has told me that people who order it this month [june] are likey to see it feb 07!

Drove one two weeks ago and it's nice for a small car.
Also the best stock exhaust I've heard (for a small car) ever. Only problems I had was that the clutch was too soft for my liking and I managed to get the thing to torque steer, ahh well what can you do with FWD. But the car is still a nice drive and revs out to 7500rpm without a problem. |

I've got one too. Such an easy car to drive and live with in traffic. Plus you can drive it around off boost when it's not required but it's always there when you put the foot down. And the sound that the thing makes..... Sounds so good in the cabin that you just keep wanting to put your foot down. I haven't heard one from the outside yet because I'm always driving mine, but I love the way the exhaust pops and bangs when you back off. Almost makes you feel like you are driving a rally car.
Cheers, Steve |

I imagine there would be plenty of others sitting in dealer's yards too- not all dealers advertise on the internet! There's been ads on Carsales for them for the last couple of weeks. _2:

Like I said if you want one NOW then you can get one. If you want a certain colour or option, or aren't willing to travel to buy one -then it sounds like you'll have a wait. But people saying they're sold out and unavailable for 12mths etc. simply isn't true! There's also one on Carsguide and two on Carpoint (some may be double ups advertised on more than one site?) BTW I had to wait three months for my ST24 when I bought it; but if I wasn't fussy on colour I could have had one straight away.

There's a review on CARSguide comparing the two turbo hatches (Focus and Astra). Guess who won?
http://carsguide.news.com.au/story/0...-21822,00.html Whoops. Didn't see the other thread on this already. Sorry...
