Default I'm looking at a ba falcon but has ghia badges

Hey guys I'm looking to swap my motor bike a triumph sprint rs 955i for a ba rego and all checks say 12 2002 ford falcon. pics of car have ghia badges and it has leather interior front bumper does have the driving lights down the bottom it does seem to be a ghia but it isn't by all paper work. what does everyone think as I'm going to look at it tommorow and before any on comments I rang the local cops about it and under the circumstances ie me being homeless and needing a car as it's hard to carry all my crap on bike and easier to sleep in car .all this because on Tuesday lost my job and accomadation and on top of that starter packed up on bike an hour later got lucky with that and was able to get on here to me in tumut in 2 days and fix it .at the end of the day I want to know what deal is with a 12 of 2002 build ba with ghia badges but all checks say falcon any idea guys

Can you post a link and pics? Why is it coming up a Falcon? If the car doesn't smell right i'd think about moving on. There will be others.

If it is a Ghia check all the electrics work such as AC, ICC, CD Stacker, windows, electric seats and mirrors.

Check the model code. IIRC the code should be 18238. Worst case the last two digits should be 38.

Whatís wrong with your bike? Because thatís a $1000 - 1500 falcon youíre swapping it for... triumph I would have thought would be worth way more.

Sorry to read about your home circumstances and job situation . That sucks .

I hope the car works out for you in the short term and once this mess is over you can pick up more work , if not sooner of course . Cheers mate .

My FG GT comes up as a falcon on rego. And a Ford.

A mates FG F6 also comes up as a Ford falcon.

I’d say rego doesn’t care about trim variants - they’re all just falcons to them.

Is this a sedan or wagon? If you intend on sleeping in the car would you be better off buying a van of sorts?

This. My Fairmont was a 'Falcon' too.

Unless somebody has gone to the trouble of putting a Ghia interior, badges and fog lights onto a Falcon XT ... although I can't see why they'd do that, they may as well just buy a Ghia.

Yep spot on. I know it's different and the word upsets people on here, but my HSV Maloo was always regoed as a "Commodore" variant "Utility".

I aaked why (thought I'd neen dudded), but HSV doesn't exist in their Rego system......

It should also have premium sound with bigger screen, 6 stack cd, reverse sensors, power windows etc. OP should see if it has all the ghia features. Carpet on the inside of the bootlid for example is usually forgotten and would be a good sign its a ghia. Something easily missed in a xt to ghia conversion.

I know it's not what your looking for and the main point of the thread but I thought you might enjoy these beautiful Ford cars we enjoyed while we had them

I'd have a hard time deciding which one if I had to choose.

If you require details as to the originality of a vehicle, you'd require the VIN.

The VIN will allow a number of forum members to access the vehicle build specifications as it came off the assembly line.

both my LTD and GT-P are registered as 'FORD SEDAN'

Rego papers are not suitable documents to tell any details.

The point is, the model is not recorded in the rego paperwork.

They're all just generic.
Even the compliance plate on the GT-P just says 'Ford Passenger Car'. no mention of FPV or GT-P not even Falcon.
so the rego doesn't know what it is, so the rego papers can't say what it is.

So your worry about whether this car is a Fairmont Ghia or not, is currently misplaced, you don't know enough to know any better.

Idea: Not a sedan but an older Hiace / Mitsubishi L300 van. Can have matress, store more stuff esp with shelving and can make much more private. Less fuel as well maybe?

L300s are practical. I had one for work and in the 6 years i drove it, it was extremely basic as a vehicle, but nothing mechanical ever failed. It was averaging 16L per 100 and a tank id only get 250km out of city driving. So not the best on fuel. The ba in question sounds like its a fairmont ghia. Pick of the bunch for a non performance ba.

Never homeless when you own a van. Nothing wrong with the L300 Bitzy.

Theres 2 rules with L300s. 1. Dont crash it. 2. Dont use the ac on hot days. The temp guage goes from just under half to just below the end if you have the ac on on hot days.

I hear you with the "don't crash it" comment. Those things are deathtraps. I used to drive them and liteaces as company work vans. They are horrible to drive and not good on fuel either.

I wonder if the a/c issue is due to a lack of a/c condenser fan up front? I had the same issue with a ford courier 4x4 ute and it's because there's no cooling besides the engine viscous fan. I was planning to add a push fan in front of the condenser to fix the issue but the ute got written off in a hail storm.

But if I couldn't get a van to live in (might be a hot commodity now and not many for sale) I'd at least get a BF wagon. they're still cheap and many have been kitted out by backpackers as the second vehicle choice after a van.
