Default 85 KB Laser - Handbrake Cable Replacement?

Hi,

What would you be looking at to get a handbrake cable replaced on the 85 KB Laser? My dad managed to burn the cable when blowing off a stripped bolt on the exhaust line, so the handbrake cable seizes when pulled, the only way to let it down is to manually pull the line from the back wheels. Would it be easier to scab one from the wreckers and replace it myself?

Cheers,
Nathan Manzi

If you can still get new ones (unlikely) they would be fairly expensive - the wreckers would definatly be the go. Sounds like your dad is a handy-type person so no point giving a mechanic your cash for something you can do yourselves.

Cheers guys, another one, the idle jet is blocked on the bastard, I've tried everything short of taking the carbie out and unblocking it with some compressed air, any ideas on easier solutions?

Cheers once more,
Nathan

its a common fault with the carby take off the incoming fuel line to the carby and blow compressed air (in short bursts) from there
if that doesnt work then you have to take the top off the carby

with the hand brake make sure you buy the outer sleeves and inner cables
not a hard job just a pain

I wish vippen etc had a scanner and a repair manual to post up some (how to do )pics for the lasers
