Buzz boxes these days put out more than enough power to wind their way through the traffic jams but they will be like the UK, boring comical police cars.

Bring in the Dodge Chargers from the states. Now that is what im talking about yeehaa!

This isn't your everyday comute. They're a country resident. So dirt roads and corrugations etc. So yes a hard life. But not worse than the falcons had. If anything this car has gad a better life. It gets washed.
And it lives in the shed. The old falcons just got left out the front or back in full weather.

Im gonna hate to see how this poor car looks in 3-4years. (If its still on the road at all)
Saved myself from a head on with an idiot twat in a VT commodore by swerving into a kerb at 60kph. The EL's tyre exploded on impact. Jacked the car up, changed to a spare wheel and drove off. Car still steered and drove straight. Try that in a Hyundai

Why do cops need powerful cars? They can cut their pollution output if they use more efficient transport. it would add up when you add up the millions of km's they do each year as a force.

Sonata's will be fine for GD police. NSW police have been using slow cars for years.
They all seam to be Camry's, Hilux's, Rangers, Pajero's and iLoads. With the odd 6 cylinder base model Commodore or Falcon.

My i20 is 2 years old 15,000kms. Still no problems, no rattles, squeaks or stopped working. Average 7l/100kms.stilk waiting for the rod in drivers seat to appear!! That a few people mentioned on FF. I wouldn't say its the best small car but as a daily driver from home to work it does it well.

Problem with that is not i20 which is small, economy , light car but the fact that was bought for a wrong purpose. Instead of cheap , used Falcons people decide to buy new in the same price range. It is like saying old boots are better than new thongs.

And yet the salesmen tell them it will be perfect.....

But unless you're now buying a dual cab 4x4 etc there won't really be an affordable family sedan that will be suitable for coutry roads etc like the falcons and Commodores are/were.

I wouldn't pull over for them on principle.

Hopefully there's a big long stretch of road ahead when they try.

Be as easy as placing an order for a Kia Stinger, lexus IS 350 or a Chrysler 300...

The Police have used WRX's among other vehicles in the past, but stuck with the SS's, XR8's, and XR6T's to use as chasers, there are reasons for that.

I'm sure most cops would prefer a Falcon or Commode, but don't underestimate the Hyundai's. I've had them since 2006 and they have never once had any major issues, if anything does go wrong they are all over them to get it fixed.

They will be every bit as good as anything else in that class with probably a better warranty and reliability.

+1 on that. Wife's '08 i30 diesel now has 151,000 on the clock and the only issue has been a failure of a plastic window runner in the driver's door.

Her work car park has multiple boom gates in the car park that require a card swipe so that window does get a workout! Fixed it myself for $20 so not a big deal. Other than that it's been tyres, oil & filters and two batteries. (Original battery was replaced under warranty as it failed under five years old).

That has been the extent of problems for the car. Runs like a clock and gets nearly 60 miles per gallon on a the highway sitting on 100 - 110 with the aircon going and three up.

We're yet to find anything cheap and nasty about it but maybe we're just clueless and know nothing about cars.

Guess what brand of car she's buying next...

Russ.

How do police expect to be taken seriously if they're trying to pull people over while driving around in hyundais?

It's this type of thing that has the potential to lead to the total breakdown of law and order in society.

When you see the red & blue disco lights, say "bye" to hyundai.

At least now in Queensland if you get stopped by the police and the policeman asks "Do you know why I pulled you over",
You can say - because I let you?

They already have the perfect pursuit weapon.

Its called a 2 way.

Radio ahead and block the road with 4 prius.
No matter what your driving you cant outrun the radio.

As for pursuit. They already had cars capable of catching most cars.
They're just too hopeless to drive them.

By the time camry arrives , the victim is either dead or the robbers have long gone and arrived at their destination with their loot in a stolen xr6 turbo...

Now that the QPS have got an air wing they don't need high powered cars just a waste of our money.
I would have them in Hyundai Getz.

Two helicopters based in the south-east corner only. There's actually a fair bit more to Queensland than Brisbane and the Gold Coast!

Had a general duties cop through work this morning.

She said that the Sonatas are already having problems with brake shudder plus they don't jump gutters too well.

To my surprise they prefer the Aurion over the Commodore/Falcon (easier to control in the wet).
