The fuses are down on the right of the steering wheel, the largish plastic cover. Pull that out. The brakes fuse is number 15, and is a 15amp. This slot is the 4th from the bottom left of the fuse pannel. There is also a tail lamp relay, its labelled R2, and is the bottom left of the relays.

I'm posting a few pics now!

Fuses:

The relay is the black one (bottom left). The fuse is the blue one! (4th from the bottom left)

All the best with it!

Same thing happened to my AU2 Fairmont Ghia - I noticed the cruise control wouldn't turn on, and then also that the brake lights were dead too - in Ford's infinite wisdom, they decided to put the brake lights and cruise control on/off on the same tiny blade fuse under the dash !!

There are spares in the fuse box, but only one of the correct ampage.

I assume it is on a BA/AU?

It will be located on the on the brake pedal near the top. You will need to crawl under the steering wheel and look for it.

I did one on the EF, cost bugger all to buy a new one from Repco but was a pain in the behind some someone my size to replace without a few nice words.
