Default Canberra To AFF Drags Heathcote - Fri 9 & Sat 10 June 2017

Hi All,

Every year there is a group of us that go from Canberra to Heathcote for the AFF Drag Nationals. In the past we have teamed up with some of the boys and girls from Tumut under the banner of Team Brindabella. Also, in the past we have met our Sydney friends at Yass and travelled together. If there is interest from club members to attend I will try to organise this.

For the Canberra guys and girls, our usual meet point for Barton Hwy cruises is Gold Creek Maccas Car Park. Travel time from Canberra to Heathcote is a good 6 to 7 hours depending on stops. The gates usually open at 4pm at Heathcote, so to maximise daylight time to set up camp, we should be there at 4.

To cater for meet ups and the associated delays, the Canberra crew will need to be at the meet point at 07:00 for a departure at 07:30.

Our UHF channel will be Channel 10.

For those seeking accommodation Saturday, out team usually books a motel in Bendigo and meet for dinner. I do believe you can camp on track on the Saturday night as well.

Please add your name to the list below and reply to the original AFF thread using the link below if you wish to come. Please go to the original thread for full details for the event.

Remember you HAVE TO check the thread listed up front to register your attendance of the event - it contains payment details etc. a must read, Ford Forums is running this, not the club.

If anyone hasn't drag raced before, I'm happy to run through the details so you're familiar with the rules and requirements. Just ask here.

Is there a place to get the rules on what your car must have. For example do I need a tail shaftloop for this event? And also what else might I need. I read the thread but nothing about it there I could see.

Wazza.

Good point Waz.

The HPR website has all that. (they're fairly lax with requirements compared to say WSID)

Your car would pass as is, no worries.

Yeah they are very relaxed about the requirements. You need to have a catch can if your car has an overflow hose, other then that it's pretty easy to pass tech

Wazza, it is about 20 minutes from Bendigo. Search for Heathcote (township and it is midway between Heathcote and Bendigo.

search for "Heathcote Park Raceway" and you'll get the right place. (turns out there's a heathcote raceway much further south).

Hi guys and gals.

May I advise that the OP is verbatim my post from a few years ago and is not really valid now. The Tumut boys have lost interest in this event (I think they have grown up - unlike us!)

In the past, I have posted this invitational thread in the ACT/NSW Events area, inviting some of our more northern AFF members an opportunity to join us at Yass for the trip south to Heathcote. I will again do the same, but will point all to this club based thread to express their interest in travelling with us.

Please accept and acknowledge posts from AFF members not involved with our club.

Cheers
Stu

re-stress the importance here, it's a AFF private event if you're not on the list/deposit paid you're not racing.

I do? I never ordered any clothing. AFF Drag Nats definitely on a budget this year. Hopefully you are confusing me with someone else Ross?

Haha Roscoe, I think you might be confusing me with Garry (AU1XLS). Just checked your clothing thread! Certainly not me!

Cheers

Hi All.

For those in Team Canberra that will be attending the AFF Drag Nationals, I have contacted Russ (HPR Operator) regarding the booking of two garages. I emailed him last week, and did not hear back from him, so today I called him, and being the communicative gentleman that he is, told me to email him. I told him that I have and not heard back. He said that he would allocate on a first come first serve basis, and was not much more helpful than that.

So, I hope to have at least one garage, but I suggest that everyone take a tent or swag just in case.

Now to put my rear end in my car back together - tomorrow!

Cheers
Stu
