Default Tickford Mustang

http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/t...23-gtxfu4.html

The future of Ford's V8 performance is here.

Tickford has just released details of its first personalisation package for the Ford Mustang.

And in what is sure to be music to any Mustang owner's ears the upgrades centre around power, namely making more of it, and will look to fill the void left by the departure of the locally made V8-powered Falcon.

The Tickford 360 Power Pack is available to be fitted to the Mustang GT and lifts power and torque by 55kW and 55Nm to 360kW and 585Nm.

At a cost of $6990 Tickford adds a cold air intake, ECU recalibration, quad cat-back exhaust and a bespoke rear diffuser.

Tickford's director of performance parts, Tony Harris, said the aim of the power packs were not just to add more power but to compliment it with an enhanced exhaust note.

The Mustang EcoBoost also gets a ride on the power boost carousel with the Tickford 270 Power Pack.

Also priced at the $6990 the 270 pack boosts power by 37kW bringing it up to 270kW. Torque is lifted by a very tidy 108Nm, bring total output to 540Nm, which is more than the standard V8-powered GT Mustang.

The 270 Power Pack includes all the components featured in the 360 Power Pack.

All Power Packs are covered by Tickford's driveline warranty and each car fitted with a pack will receive a individually numbered build-plate and Tickford exterior badging.

However, if you want a richer exhaust note without the power increase Tickford also offers its cat-back exhaust and rear diffuser as standalone options.

A Tickford ride and handling package and interior and styling upgrades are also on the horizon for the Mustang.

A prototype shown in October last year highlights some of the potential exterior styling upgrades that Tickford will offer; these include carbon fibre additions to its bumpers and side skirts, as well as a carbon fibre spoiler and matte black racing stripes.

Tickford revealed its Ranger-specific packs last October, with the powertrain upgrades claimed to increase power by 15 per cent and torque by 20 per cent.

People be whinging about the cost of this, yet not about the premium of a GT over XR8.

A full warranted, compliant upgrade is awesome work.

No wonder people are reluctant to mess with ford's...to much negative commentary

Agreed. It's warranted and compliant performance upgrades. Tickford enlisted Bosch to conduct compliance testing to ensure OEM standards. If ever there were an FPV Mustang, this is pretty much what it would be. I think it's fantastic that we have a unique Mustang for Australia.

And yet we slammed the W427 arrangement with comments like "i wouldnt want to get caught in the middle of the warranty fight between HSV and Walkinshaw" and "the warranty isnt worth the paper its written on".

Not having a go but we change our 'tune' when it suits us.

That's the first I've heard of any of that. W427 was a fully-warranted factory HSV product. You're not thinking of the Walkinshaw Performance upgrades through Holden dealers, are you?

It seems with any of these packs regardless of the car that everyone overlooks the value of driveline warranty! Of course that's a bit of a premium on top to cover it.

No. Some, even many may, but a good portion of people can see the sense and value in a warranted and compliant upgrade package.

7k is a bit rich. If it was a full zorst including headers and a suspension pack for 7-8k then would be much better value.

Tickford will warrant anything which fails as a result of the mods. You'd hope that between Ford and Tickford, they'd cooperate to ensure a satisfactory outcome at the very least.

As for the price, a full exhaust supplied and fitted would cost you close to $5K. Throw in a CAI, flash tune unit with custom tuning, and you're looking at the same price as these mods.

I'd forgoe the headers and cats if it meant I had a fully wanted and compliant performance package for the same price. Many don't see the value; I do...

Quality stainless cat back supplied and fitted @ 3k
Shockworks suspension all round @ 2.5k supplied and fitted
Air box @ 600 supplied and fitted
Sct device and custom tune @1800 supplied and tune.
So for just over 7.5k you get the above which I reckon is better value.

A global business like Tickford could easily do the above for 7 k and the package they quoted should be closer to 5 or 6k

Just sayin.

Yeah... I'm not sure what brand exhaust you're referring to, but $3K supplied and fitted seems to good to be true for a "quality" system.

There's no doubt that the pure aftermarket scene can do things cheaper than Tickford. None would have the same level of OEM standardised compliance testing as the Tickford mods would, though. That's where a chunk of your coin is going to...

3k I referred to is for cat back only. Plenty of name brands in that price bracket give or take ...in stainless. 5k for cat back only is very rich. Perhaps they are supplying a titanium spec system ?

What OEM standardised compliance testing would a cat back need. Have you stuck your head under an FPV to see the OEM compliance quality on those exhaust systems.

My apologies. You did say cat back for $3K. Where I had my wires crossed was when you were critical of Tickford's package not including a full exhaust system or suspension upgrades for the price quoted, but then proceeded to quote what the aftermarket would net for the same price which also didn't include a catback.

At the end of the day, some will find value in $7K worth of mods which are warranted and compliant. Others, whom don't find value in that, will not. It's horses for courses. But to compare Tickford's offering to the aftermarket based purely on a BFYB performance is a bit unfair and slightly ignorant. The Tickford packages represents a lot more than BFYB performance.

I get all that but it doesn't include any form of warranty. The tickford prices are reasonable considering that. Especially if they are adr compliant too which they might be. That means something for some people.

If you can weild a spanner or 2, $7k could get you into the 10's.

Still early days for Mustang modders, prices will drop as more options become available

A question for the tuners.

How many more Parameters does the FORD software have over the SCT?
What are the main differences?

Is the Tickford Tune a generic one or do they tune vehicle specific?
