Finally, some stereo Progress...... (pics inside)

Ok I'm tired now but to cut a long story short, I was bored a couple of days ago, so I went for a drive to Preston JB HiFi. That visit turned out to be expensive, as I walked out with 2 sets of speakers that I hadn't planned on getting. I got a great deal on them, and ****ed off the JB staff with my bargaining, so I walked out happy.

The speakers i got were 6" Pioneer Bullit (They are silver with a madonna breast like cone in the middle) Splits for the front, and the same thing for the rear but three way. 6" so I can easily put the stock stuff back in when the car goes, and so It was possible for me to install it!

Installed the rears easily with the help of me good mate Mustang Nicko, but the splits I decided to try on my own. So I called Yagz at about 10:30PM for some assistance, and he gave me the confidence to give it a go: ("F**kin hell Danny! I tried it once, and never will I try it again. HA Good luck to ya buddy...").

Anyways here I am, No major dramas (apart from having to re position the tweeter), drivers side is done!

I also found the source of my 6 month old door rattle, Few cable ties later, shes not rattlin no more!

Do most 6" speakers fit onto Falcon parsel trays without needing spacers?

I found I needed spacers cos of the gas tank... otherwise I can't see why they wouldn't fit.

Looks lervely, very professional.

Also love this little guy but as yet have no reason to use him, so I'm gonna use him just BECAUSE HE'S CUTE -

yeah, there is no problems putting 6" and sometimes 6.5" speakers in the rear... i've got LPG and some 3 way kenwood 6" speakers and they sit in nicely

GOod work on the install Danny, speaker installs are one thing that is essentially easy to do and saves u some cash (unless u have to run speaker wire.. i hate that)

I've done the same as u with the stock rear covers, just seems to suit the parcel shelf nicely :P

installing the new amp will be the fun part... speaker wire into the front doors... *shudder*

What 5 channel amp did you decide to get?

I wouldn't mind upgrading my US Audio 5 channel amp for a better one, but 5 Channel amps seem to be few and far between...

How do the Splits sound in the front? I know a few peeps with those Pioneer Splits and some sound great but one mate they sounds like crap.

Sif I could be bothered trying to get em in there niko! When the amp and sub come, i'll have the money for a professional install. Installing the splits was hard enough.

I'm about to go out and start the passenger side now, i'll let you all know how she goes and sounds at the conclusion of the days work!

its actually easier to install the tweeters behind the dash in the factory location instead of the custom install you did. i think it looks cool how you've done it.. but from experience i found that they sound better in the factory spot. kinda too in your face when they are that close.. but see how they go!

i got a mate to hack up my ea 4" holes and i fit in some front 6'' coaxials nicely enough ran new cabling to, its not that hard (but i dont have room for tweeters, dont think anyway) coaxials are trebly enough for me though anyway...

Looks good mate. Like the install location of the tweeters, have heard them in johns car (EFfalcon) and in another mate who had them in factory position. Always better where you have them, simply because the sound is focused towards you.

How'd you go with the crossovers? Did ya get the speaker wire through everywhere ok?

How do they sound running off the Headunit?

I found it easier to put them in the same place as Dan because i was able to put the crossover in the doors... saved me having to run speaker wiring in and out of the door

Yeah I definitely didn't wanna do that!!
Anyways Its finished now, and It sounds pretty awesome! I have the annual 2005 playing at the moment, and some chilled house and boy is the sound refined! Looking forward to hearing the speakers post amp installation!

Yagz, all went well with the crossover box, I had to drill two small holes on each side because there wasn't any that lined up! The box is at the bottom of each door toward the rear of the car just near the hole in the doorframe where the Ghia door courtesy lights are placed. No dramas with the window or wires touching the window! All good. I love cable ties!

Now to do some chap laps tonight!!

the hard part is just getting one wire through the hard places.. once you get one through its easy to just tie the other wire to that one and pull it through.

I've known quite a few people who have killed their crossovers from the shock of the door constantly closing (Rmyers was one of them), so i mounted mine up under the dash.

Although, my tweeters are just near the stock location, so i only had to run one wire through to the door...

Anyone know an easy way of chopping the rear parcel shelf for a tidy 6" speaker install? Alternatively, what models came with rear speakers already installed, and is it difficult to remove the parcel shelf all in one go? Might pay to just go to a wrecker and get the whole parcel shelf with holes cut and speaker covers in it. Cheers guys.

Those are nice speakers, I had the same setup back in 2002, the same front spilts and the same rears. I blew up a a front pair within a month, too much bass, then upgraded to the yellow pro series.

Good thing about the rear speakers thou is you can throw carp loads of bass through them without needing a sub. And they aren't even 6x9's

my crossovers are in my doors (where the map pocket goes on an EA, have my pod over this area) and haven't had any problems so far... touch wood...

My crossovers are in the boot, running 3 lines of 12awg UTP speaker cable down each side isnt fun at all..... ;(

Maybe the pioneer crossovers are better built than Rmyers' Focal Utopias :P lmao. :P

Just lay down in the boot and cut through from underneith using a stanley knife. VERY easy to do, it only took me 5 mins to do mine...
