Sorted - I know where you are coming from, but as it stands, it is the most powerful... Unless the dyno's consistently show sub 310rwkw... Average Joe doesn't know about rwkw, so HSV have already won half the battle by claiming 430kw...

As for fastest, i agree that it isn't as clear cut. However, i think with more time and further testing that the GTS will prove to be quicker. Not just down the straight, but also around the track.

I cant see it being faster down the strip having seen the power losses HSVs and SS have via driveline. in saying that thou. they are a quick car what ever way you look at it. but you never know. as I've said. when it happens i'll acknowledge it. as for around the track I say may be right there? being a newer model. will just have too wait and see

Enough with the lame excuses already

If you don't know how Wheels Test Cars 0-100klms and 1/4 mile maybe you should do some research and this is the reason why the Wheels Test has it .2 second slower.

Lets get this noted that I haven't said the FPV GT Rspec is the best car in the world, the fastest in the world, the most powerful and I am sure you can find things on a Hyundai I30 that is not on a FPV GT Rspec BUT HSV advertised this car as the most powerful Australian Built Car which leads everyone to assume it is the Fastest Australian Built car BUT this is not true

This is what annoys me - sure it has all the gear - sure it's a nice car...............

Same goes with the VF ute thing they took to the Nürburgring and claimed a world record

Same false advertising - if your going to claim it then prove it.................
What lame excuses am I using?

I agree the conditions when they went head to head werent the best way to show what both cars was capable of but what im trying to get at is that you cant really compare times unless done on the same day, conditions etc.

They might matter to you Glen but to many it does. I have spent $1,000's chasing 0.5 seconds as have many others. It is important to some, not all and is always a good discussion, whether it be serious or just some fun.

Don't get too caught up in what is not important to you as others do think the opposite. It is all harmless fun ..... And as said above ..... Has been the way since Adam was a boy

yes . I would so rather hear or see this then hear that, mindless dribble that's going on at the moment. some people might take it too heart but oh well. I don't have a problem with anyone sticking up for the GTS its their opinion. I don't think the Hype is as great as a lot of people made it out to be. again, thats my opinion. maybe we should do a poll on which car everyone prefers?? would be interesting until the thread gets locked lol could be the AFF Australian modern muscle car election!!

Does anyone know the 1/4 mile trap speeds of the GTS and GT R Spec ?
That will give you a pretty good indication of who is cranking out the most HP.

I have heard the LSA runs bigger boost than the Miami, and its intercooled, and its 1.2 litres bigger, so it should be substantially faster than the GT wouldn't you think ?

I myself have more respect and admiration on what FPV have done over the years on a shoestring budget than I do for HSV, and I would hedge my bets on the GT being a better investment long term than the GTS.

BTW, I'm more intrigued by this little thing, and what it can do with a 2 litre motor.

But it's still a pushrod motor, and we all know they're not as efficient at making power as a quad-cam setup.

Here we have the BOSS 5.0 making over 375kW vs the General's 6.2 making 430kW... that's 13% more power from an engine with 20% more displacement... hmm

And I rekon that the GTS will suffer massively from heat soak after a few pulls on the dyno, unlike the Miami that compensates for the losses to a degree.

It is a shame that we never saw the full potential of the Miami, VVT for inlet cams, Intercooling and direct injection.

Mmm must be a typo, nearly 5 mph difference suggests that the GT is making heaps more power.
The only way to find out will be to run them both on the same day at the same track.

I remember FPV were saying quietly that they had seen 4.5 sec 0-100 runs in their private testing of the R spec, but Ford do not publish performance figures as they think it goes against road safety ideals.

power figures are like fuel figures on a dyno, no relation to real world, just ballpark.

I totally understand people admiring the opposition for what it might have or not, just can't understand the way some of you sound like you obsess about the new GTS and want to post how good it is in a FORD form WTF??? Seriously if your from the other side go and stay on that side of the fence... This is FORD land where it should always blue...

I'm certainly not one eyed. But the falcon in its current state is not up to what the commodore is, regardless of which model you want to pick.
I'm holding off getting rid of my GS ute second quarter of next year as there is a glimmer of hope Ford may produce something equal to the Holden ute. If not, I'll jump ship as I Buy what I like not what my dad and his dad drove!
Each to their own, but I feel for people who can't see past the badge on the grille.

.
Even with all the new fancy tech and Holden trying to bandy the GTS about as a Ferrari/Porsche kitted Commodore the performance Euro's still have vastly superior chassis, suspension set ups, tech, and general ability to get maximum power to the ground and in a usable fashion.

Isn't someone who likes a Ford over anything else buying what they like? Why would you feel for people who have a passion towards something? Isnt choice what its all about ...... and not the reason why they choose?

Don't 'feel' for me cos I love what I choose to buy ..... as you said, I also buy what I like. Just so happens I prefer Fords over anything else I can afford. The reasons why I buy them are irrelevant to you or anyone else really as we all have our own and personal reasons why we choose what we buy and do.

If I could afford to buy an Aston Martin I would! Never driven one, Never sat in one but just because of what it looks like and the perception I have, I would buy it because of badge alone. Call it whatever you want .... but as you stated, its good to buy what you want. It is also the same reason why I wouldn't buy a HSV

Making the 2014 GT with 400kw+ will make it sell well how exactly?

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.
