Gowdy is a self promoting fool.
If he got the job there would be hell to pay inside the FBI.

Luckily this can't happen in Australia as the head of the AFP must be a sworn officer, so we can never get dickheads appointed by politicians.

American democracy is ‘under assault’ from Donald Trump, former intelligence chief says

James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence, made the damning comments in the wake of the abrupt firing of FBI director James Comey and a probe into Moscow’s meddling in US elections and possible ties with the Trump campaign.

As Trump works to fast-track Comey’s successor, politicians from both parties urged him to steer clear of any politicians for the job and say he must “clean up the mess that he mostly created”.

“I think, in many ways, our institutions are under assault, both externally — and that’s the big news here, is the Russian interference in our election system,” Clapper said.

“I think as well our institutions are under assault internally.”

G.O.P. Senators, Pulling Away From Trump, Have ‘a Lot Less Fear of Him’

WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans, increasingly unnerved by President Trump’s volatility and unpopularity, are starting to show signs of breaking away from him as they try to forge a more traditional Republican agenda and protect their political fortunes.

Several Republicans have openly questioned Mr. Trump’s decision to fire the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, and even lawmakers who supported the move have complained privately that it was poorly timed and disruptive to their work. Many were dismayed when Mr. Trump seemed to then threaten Mr. Comey not to leak negative information about him.

So far, Republicans have refrained from bucking the president en masse, in part to avoid undermining their intense push to put health care and tax bills on his desk this year. And the Republican leadership, including Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader, and the House speaker, Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, remains behind Mr. Trump.

But with the White House lurching from crisis to crisis, the president is hampering Republicans’ efforts to fulfil his promises.

Trump Appoints New FBI Director To Investigate Especially Heinous Crimes!

President Trump has today given a tour of the White House to his newly appointed FBI Director, Sergeant Fin Tutuola from the New York Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

Speaking to the media today, Trump was quick to point out that as a proud New Yorker, it was imperative that he had an FBI director with the same kind of background – as well someone who has appeared on countless reality television shows with his heavily augmented wife.

“In the criminal justice system, Federal offenses are considered especially heinous” said Trump

“In Washington, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the FBI”

“Odafin Tutuola has long been a favourite of mine. A real New York Cop… I welcome him”

Given Sgt. Tutuola’s experience in working especially heinous crimes, it is believed that President Trump made up to six separate jokes about him being a ‘Female Body Inspector’ – before being told to have a nap by his staffers.

If Trump does get impeached, his dismissal will almost certainly be used as the pretext for wholesale changes to the core structure of the US governmental system, and not for the better. I am of the opinion that the US will move towards becoming more regimented and controlled, almost totalitarian in nature.

Naughty peasants, how dare you exercise your democratic rights and freedoms...

Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister and ambassador!

President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former US officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardised a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

The information Trump relayed had been provided by a US partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the US government, officials said.

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said that Trump’s decision to do so risks cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and National Security Agency.

“This is code-word information,” said a US official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.”

The revelation comes as Trump faces rising legal and political pressure on multiple Russia-related fronts. Last week, he fired FBI Director James Comey in the midst of a bureau investigation into links between the Trump campaign and Moscow. Trump’s subsequent admission that his decision was driven by “this Russia thing” was seen by critics as attempted obstruction of justice.

You got me there. I seem to recall him campaigning on the defeat of ISIS within 30 days. After 60 days, ISIS supposedly called Trump an idiot - and it pains me to concede ISIS is right about something. I admit to being mistaken if he didn't promise a swift decimation of ISIS after he began his Presidency.

So, what inroads has Trump made into defeating ISIS? Plenty of reports on the escalating civilian casualties but not much on ISIS being toppled..?

If one can take anything away from this entire saga, it is this. Regardless of what Trump has (or hasn't) done, the behaviour of the mainstream media has been nothing short of reprehensible.

Hillary Clinton has classified information on unsecure servers, James Comey recommends she should not be prosecuted, and fake news/lame stream media is ok with this. Go figure.

Trump needs to follow through with his task of draining the swamp and treating the Soros funded media with the contempt it deserves.

Endgame - Memo alleges Donald Trump tried to shut down investigation

A BOMBSHELL memo written by fired FBI Director James Comey alleges Donald Trump tried to shut down the investigation into his former National Security Adviser, General Michael Flynn.

The New York Times reports Mr Trump asked Mr Comey to end the investigation into General Flynn during an Oval Office meeting in February.

Gen Flynn was sacked from his job as Mr Trump’s security adviser after it emerged he had lied about his conversations with Russia’s ambassador to the United States. Since then, his other connections to foreign governments have also been under investigation.

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go,” Mr. Trump told Mr. Comey, according to the memo. “He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”

Mr Comey wrote the memo immediately after his meeting with the President the day after Mr Flynn resigned.

“The memo was part of a paper trail Mr Comey created documenting what he perceived as the President’s improper efforts to influence an ongoing investigation,” the Times reports, pointing out that an FBI agent’s contemporaneous notes can be used as credible evidence of conversations in court.
