Some people just love the dragstrip. Make's my life easier which I appreciate. There is a plan to possibly get another car in the ranks but we'll see how that goes? It's not definate.

Mate you have got it wrong, brenx has been a member on here since the start and on the other forums for a long time too, and many of us have met him at events. Not to take away from Brenx, cos I watched him run from up close all weekend and his performance surprised me initially then satisfied me with his consistency and overall it was a fantastic effort.

BUT what might have been goes down to my mate Pete. He owns the red XE S Pak known as ETSHSV. The car is regularly legally street driven on pump fuel and is legally registered with a cast iron 351 cleveland as fitted to that model at the factory. On his first run at the All Ford Nats he blew the tailshaft to bits around 800 foot and ripped the casing away from the tranny and still managed to cross the line at 80+ mph running 11.3 ET. Car has run 10.70 on pump fuel no NOS at a previous meet and 10.60 in race trim.

great going Brenx,
i can see low 10's or better pretty soon with your planned improvements,
i cant afford to build a motor like yours but im going to have a lot of fun when it hits the street ,especially after some of the advice you have given me on this forum over last 3 months.
its always nice to get help and advice instead of knockers just waiting to jump on your head so they feel important.at least you always try and help us with lessor knowledge of engines.

This is not to discount Brenden's achievements but low 11's to low 10's isn't a very easy proposition. I think realistically we'll see a 10.80-10.70 after a bit more fine tuning and track time which is damn good in anyone's language.

Here's a little data on what I've been doing over the years. It took me a fair while to get to the strip the 1st time round due to numerous mechanical failures (mainly lack of auto). I've played with varying things taking the 351 from a 100mph motor to a 116mph motor. The new engine will see some new things. I'm hoping to see a 4-5mph increase next time out. I'll just keep going from there as it shown below in my data.

* Calder Park in Dec 2002 ran a 13.6 sec 1/4 mile @ 100mph.

* Calder Park on the 7th Feb 2003 ran a 13.4 sec 1/4 mile @ 102.28mph

* Heathcote on the 3rd May 2003 ran a 12.95 1/4 mile @ 105.96mph

* Calder Park on the 1st October 2004 ran a 11.96 1/4 mile @ 113.65mph

* Heathcote on the 20th August 2005 ran a 11.85 1/4 mile @ 115.83mph

* Heathcote on the 19th November 2005 ran a 11.11@121.92mph

Mines an 830 annular. I haven't had a 750dp since Jan 05 ;) The 750 for some reason couldn't cope with the 351. What is odd is the 393 has the very same jetting as the 351 apart from the powervalve.

Carb will be the very last thing I change. I was at Hallam Performance today pricing up what it's going to cost me to upgrade my extractors. Hopefully I'll be doing that sometime late Jan/early Feb.

Thats interesting,with my last combo 825 BG ,950HP showed more on the dyno while tuning but the750DP beat them by 2 mph at the track, it also gave a higher mph on 2 other cars (383chev and 355 roller holden) than the owners 830hp and 950hp. With all the rain i havent been able to do any testing on the new combo yet

I don't think its a fair comparison to make, Jai is a top guy, I have met him and had a beer with him, and even he will agree that his car is in a different class.

an AMS car is a group 2 race car, Brendens car is a street car.

Jai's car is waaaaay off its index, sorting it out at the moment, one of my mates is doing the engine for it, with Jai steering and Danny holding the spanners, the car will be one to watch soon.

Brenx,
if you're going to upgrade your extractors get a custom made mandrel bent set done, you'll see a big difference between off the shelf and custom made, and the cost isnt that much more either.
I know a guy who does allot of custom mandrel bent extractors and exhausts, X pipes (V8supercar etc), his work is first class and he uses a scientific approach to calculate the correct tuned runner length for your engine etc rather than guessing, or having to use the compromised off the shelf stuff.
