I dont know about the Total oil but the Liqui-Moly LEICHTLAUF SPECIAL 5W-30 is available from the local Auto One store. I chased up the Mobil Super FE 5W-30 here and it is only available in 200 litre drums. The suggestion from the distributor was to contact the local Ford dealer if I wanted some. My cynicism tells me this smells of a con. Create your own unique oil standard that very few oils satisfy so it is necessary for you to back to the dealer to comply with the warranty. At least the Liqui-Moly is available.

I still see places carrying elf... so maybe they could get Total since they are meant to be the same company

I have emailed Total who replied and said I should contact these guys:
http://www.elfoil.com.au/contact/contact.aspx
to find distributors which I've done so I'll report back.

i guess in australia it's still being marketed/sold by the elf brand. kind of makes sense according to my observations... though maybe the reason we haven't seen much total oil is because they're probably trying to clear out old elf stock first!

either way i'd be interested in your results - got a change due soon. I have been very happy using Elf oils in the past and recently switched to liqui-moly (from a nearby Autobarn) but wouldn't mind going with total but admittedly haven't been looking real hard

here is a list of oils I have been compiling that claim to meet the ford WSS-M2C913-B or C requirement:

Liqui Moly Leichtlauf Special F 5W-30
Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A1
Total QUARTZ 9000 FUTURE NFC 5W-30
Total ACTIVA 9000 FUTUR 5W-30
Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30
Fuchs TITAN Supersyn F 5w-30
Gulf Formula FS 5w-30
Millers Oils XF Longlife ECO 5w-30
Nulon Full Synthetic 5W-30 Diesel Formula Engine Oil
Havoline Energy 5W-30
Motul 8100 Eco-nergy 5W30
Motul Specific 913C 5W30
AnglomOil Roadmaster GEO 550F
Q8 Oils Techno 5W-30
BP Visco 5000 FE 5W-30
Comma Xtech 5W-30
CHAMPION SYNTOLUBE 5W30 F 913-C
ADDINOL Premium 0530 FD
OPTIMA VIMAX FD 5W/30
Ford Formula F 5w30
Sunoco SYNTURO DYNAMIC 5W30
Opus SYNOPUS F 5W/30
Shell Helix Ultra AF 5W-30

this list is by no means exhaustive, just what turned up in google one night

Total 9000 Future NFC 5W-30 isn't imported into Australia unfortunately.

An update on the approved oils situation...

Well I recently had the car serviced and this is the first time I've used the Ford WSS-M2C 913-C approved Liqui Moly Leichtlauf Special F 5W-30

It's certainly no worse than the Ford WSS-M2C 913-B approved Liqui Moly Leichtlauf Special 5W-30 that I was using before it, and it seems that power at low revs is a delivered smoother. Engine doesn't seem to labour as easily such as when going slow over speed humps or when I'm a bit slow on the clutch taking off.

Anyway decided to have a look around at what is now available on the market and noticed that the Penrite HPR 5 (5W-40) Full Syn now meets Ford WSS-M2C 913-B. Being 5w40 this oil should offer better protection in hotter climates, especially our summers... and this oil should be readily available at any Autobarn or Supercheap which is a big plus in my books

Have also found the Ford WSS-M2C 913-C approved AnglomOil Roadmaster GEO 550F is quite readily available around Sydney but only in 20 litre drums =\

However... I decided to enquire into Total oils again since my experience using Elf oils has been positive and good news! I have been emailing to and fro with the NSW distributor for Total oils and the Ford WSS-M2C 913-C approved Total Quartz 9000 Future NFC 5W30 can now be ordered in!

The oil is available in a box of 3 x 5litre bottles for $149.82 plus gst and free delivery in Sydney metro which is a lot less per bottle than I'm currently paying for the Liqui Moly.

They're waiting for stock but I think I will buy some. Since I do changes at 7,500km I'll get through them pretty quickly but if anyone around western Sydney wants some I'll be happy to let go of a bottle or 2

Slightly off-topic, what is the oil requirement for a 2010 XR5?...will a 5/30 oil do the trick here?

There is more to it than 5W30. It needs to meet WSS-M2C913-C for the XR5. The last few posts will help you find WSS-M2C913-C oil.

Hello all,
Does anyone know if CASTROL EDGE 5w-30 A3/B4 meets Ford WSS-M2C913-B specifications?
Castrol don’t suggest this oil.....Castrol suggest magnatec stop/start....

BUT...

....Supercheap Auto and Autobahn do suggest it can be used as an alternative to the magnatec.

Who should I believe?

You can definitely buy some Total oils at Peugeot and Citroen dealers... but I doubt they'll sell this one as it is not on this list: http://www.peugeot.com.au/oil-recommendations/

If your local mechanic has put the sump plug on to tight, use a rattle gun to get it off. They have probably done it up with a rattle gun if they are lazy. for those in melbourne elfoil and total oil have a direct shop on south gippsland hwy near katoomba and motorsport

The oil is currently available through this website
https://thecarcarestore.com.au/item_....php?code=3853

and hopefully soon from your local auto store.
This thread is for the Duratec HE engine.
You should start a new thread for the GDI engine in the LW Focus.

Hi guys, I have the new 2012 1.6 litre Focus Ambiente. The manual says to use oil that meets the WSS-M2C945 spec. I think this spec refers mainly to the 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines. Since my engine is exactly the same as the 1.6 Fiesta duratec engine, can I use any 5w-30 oil or any oil that meets WSS-M2C913 whick works for fiesta ?

Its a messy job! It is an internal filter inside a plastic container at the front of the drivers side of the motor,

That one sounds like the fuel filter housing if it has tube running in and one out toward the top of the motor its the fuel filter housing. Look to the right and down about half way down the front of the engine Needs a big socket to undo the top as it screws, Be careful as I do not know how much abuse the plastic will take.
It has a "O" ring on the cap.

Turns out the ford mechanic that did our last oil change completely stripped the sump bolt.
So how and where can I get a replacement? Had a quick look on ebay but not sure which one would work....

Well I just went to my local dealer $38.
I don't think that is 'not expensive'.
In fact, its probably why ****head Ford is going out of business.

I just bought a 2014 Focus Sport with the 2L Duratec - I have 4 or 5 bottles of Castrol Edge 5W-30, is this fine for the car (I'd like to do oil changes ever 6 months and at 3000km)? The Castrol website recommends Castrol Magnatec 5W-30.

I wouldn't use that oil during warranty as it doesn't meet ford's spec. Your Focus uses direct injection and needs a low saps oil which the Castrol Edge is not.

Use the following oil it fully meets Ford's spec:

Disclaimer - I am not giving advice simply sharing some info and data I have collected during ownership of my Focus.

2010 2L Duratec Focus LVII auto

Summary – Some info not on this report but on previous reports

----------------------------------------------------
Notes:
None of the oils used are the recommended viscosity or ford spec.

*1 – I was unsure if the oil would have the TBN to go 15K kms so I swapped out 1L to bump up the reserve.

This Fuchs oil is fairly exotic – Zinc free and the old formula had no moly, 2 typical anti-wear additives.

I swapped over to M1 due to uncertain availability of Fuchs and I had an issue with long standing oil separating.

I now use M1 EP 0W20 in the Duratec Focus, K24 CR-V and the Miami XR8 Sprint

From these samples both MC and M1 filters kept particle size low.

In my samples I've done for all my other cars, time on oil has had no adverse impact on oil condition.

--------------------------------------------------------

Last sample report:
