Im new to this forum so hello hello

I was just wondering i remember reading or being told that VW bought are using teh same framework for the new VW golf as wats in the current focus platform or something similar.

um I dont think it would happen. I know (pretty sure) Audi and VW share the same platform for A3 and Golf but thats about it.

Sounds like someone is feeding you BS.

Somehow, I don't think that VW needs to mimick the Focus' success in Europe, given that the VW Golf is the most popular car in the world. Ford would be really incredibly happy to sell as many Focus' as VW has Golfs.

I remember hearing something about this a while back.

Its not that unusual for car makers to share parts or even basic chassis. Look at mitubishi's early generation lancer and protons cars for one extreme, then at the other you have ford and holden using the same slush boxes. Porsche and VW, yet another example. Porsche is still ,afaik, independant of VW however the two have a development alliance - hence the Cayenne and Tourag.

The US has even been gifted with a SAABed up Subaru. Subaru, is not "technically" GM as GM owns the controlling interest (25%) in Fujitsu Heavy Industries.

Porsche has had the development alliance with Volkswagen since they both started. Dr. Ferdinand Porsche designed the original Volkswagen Beetle, and the first batch were built in his facility. You could say that Porsche started VW up...

I think it was actually Adolf Hitler who started up VW, Volkswagen = Car for the People. Ferdinand Porsche merely designed the car for him.

You may be confusing the link between the new Volvo 40/50 series & the new Focus?

Heil Hitler
Interesting to note in the 'history' of VW they failed to mention that two thirds of their workers during WWII consisted of slave labourers. Them, and a few more common German car companies.
