Snuck round to the front, under the guards for a lookit. had a bloke tell me he could stop my tyres rubbin on the lip at the back. I said sweet go for it....
I guess I should have asked more questions as I can only assume the fix consisted of a couple of cuts and a hammer swung in the general direction of the offendng bit.

Passenger Side Inner

Passenger Side Outer

Removed the splash Guard to see

Unhappy but oh well. Fixed it

Drivers Side , same fix applied but by a stronger person I surmise.. <-- cool word there hey ?

How did I know he was stronger ? . It actually creased the panel behind

All the way up ....

Get it sort of back into shape....

Fixed it... well , I am calling it fixed. :( .

Went to the Drive Ins with yas.

Put my pond in out in the side garden.

My cat seeing if I'm lookin at him while he is dead.

Passenger Side Rear Quarter Upper (you know the spot)

Some panels for it

Tack em in

Grind it down

Driver Side "G" Spot..... Gee, I guess I gotta fix that too.

Swapped to the boot for a bit coz my neck was hurtin from doing the passenger side on a stupid angle, shoulda taken the rotisserie when it was offered.

Let the boy cut the bad bits from the boot. All 6 of em :(.

Apparently I went back to the drivers side after I looked at the boot coz its the next pic off the camera....

Then I must have wandered back coz I took this pic...

Unless someone else is using my camera ??? hmmmmmm

Then another panel for the G spot.

Some more cutting (bought a fein saw.. what a ace bit of kit btw)

Finished, well close anyway

The panels cut for the boot repair..

Testing our old rubber for fit. It a original and in very nice nic so we running with it.

Got some more I will sort out of the welded boot and the end stages of the rear window seal area repairs. Thank for havin a look. I will leave you with a few words.... How about Justin Beiber hey ? if I really wanted to see a 16 year old scream , I would do 120 thru a school zone.

I reckon its about 40 kays away from paint . scored a booth up on the hume for nuffin. Ummm. Realistically , I would like to say a month. to keep with reality, I have allowed til june for the rest of P&P. I dont have a painters feel in my hands so the final prep is a slow process for me. Danni has to finish stripping bonnet and we can look at that. Its gt one but I dont have a fairmont one laying around so she will have to live with it I'm afraid. Seat trims comin soon. Heres hoping they fit, we are puttin em on and savin 400 bucks. hope its the right decision..........

Anyway, cut the rare spares off again, if u look closely u can see my new cut line, about 8mm out. gunna send the boy in to get his eyes checked.

Try number 2. This should be ok............

Quick shot of the inner..

While I was workin on the guard I applied option 73, delete stupid guard ariel hole

I got a 6000K hid set for her too..My brother has em on his 4by and swears by em, Told him if I dont like em I'm gunna swear too.

And the coolest thing ? ... they actually fit with very little trouble indeed.

lookit !. Cant wait to fire em up

I have 2 spots of rust in the bonnet to do and thats the rust goned.

Donor Bonnet off my convertible..

Drivers Side Rust...

Passenger Side rust.

Coupla hours in that. Thankfully the front lip is very good.

Evening trendsetters and barsitters. Dragged the rear bar out today coz I wanted to...

Stripped it down for a looksee. I now have a towbar free to good/bad home if anyone wants it... If this pic comes out ok, it will show the colour difference between nickel and chrome for you to peruse... Not good to paint over chrome, nickel is ok tho....

See these bits on the bumper ? , well mine stick out a touch and I dont like it .... Sooo, on Dannis I decided to fill em in

Filled in , reckon they will come up ok. Trimmed them fairly close so I can be sure they will miss the body..

Also deleting the gly dome from the bracket retainers too. First Step cut the stainless cap off the bolts...

Wack a couple of tacks inside to hold it in position and come round the front side and grind the top off so we get...

Weld it in and grind back and all done..

Also making the jack points leave the scene too.

Finished product from the inside of the bar, all tar painted to stop the rust monster.

A quick hi fill and the bar and ready for paint. To do the front bar, do the same thing again but use a front bar

Ummm probably bonnet this weekend or maybe sooner pending on cbf levels.. Thank you all and catch ya on the flip flop...

thanks blokes. The body wasnt too bad compared to most coupes out there. Most of the usual rust as ya can see by the pics. I have some more pics of the convertable, I put a 2x4" box from front to rear to stop it bending, shaped it to match the chassis. It was solid as a rock. The coupe is a fun project to play with, It will be ready for echuca, hopefully both will make it looking nice this time. I havent tried to fit the badges yet.... I will have a poke at it later today just to put my mind at ease ... thanks for the heads up. The finances dont take much of a hit if ya have a shot at it yourself. The big $$ come when ya get the bill from a panel shop. Doin it at home drops the cost heaps.

Thats the way to do it mate. I get scared leaving cars for wheel alignments let alone giving it to a beater for a coupla years. With the amount of coupe parts I leave ot the front and where I live, Im surprised every time I get home and the cars still there.

nah mate, caustic solution and a battery charger hooked up in reverse. make the bumper the anode and a hunk of lead as the cathode. takes about 10 minutes.

Sew said the needle to the thread, Dragged the rear zorsty panel out. Ummm , rear bumper again, and the bonnet ............ Is the last panel that needs rust repair and strip. The rest of her is in getting some loving (beating from a hammer to bash some shape back into the left rear quarter. Looks like some wacker scratched past a fence and forgot about the big bum. ..... off to photobucker thing to see what pics i loaded up..... back in a sec... okay back... this is the first paint strip of the bonnet.. Is like enamel or some awful crud somewhat akin to paint..

Danni n Ricky sloppin the 2nd coat, bagged it n everything. it just didnt wanna shift.

Danni at the end of strippin the bumper and zorsty panel ...Hoaw Haw, I see in the pic we did the plenumn toooo . tops, forgot about that.. hers was rusty underside of it. tossed it in the shed and used the off off my old blue falc, which was mint as. will try member to get some pics of it, didnt need fixing, just stripping and priming so it didnt get near any action to get its photo taken if ya understand ?

From the plenumn side of the stand, you see a stooopid panno. Not mine, dont ask , its a mates who somehow screws me out of room in my driveway every time he gets a new ride and needs a place to screw it together. Ya not living unless you got a mate like matty ..... Back to the car..

Gunna post this in case it expires again... Not sure how long this is taking me.......

Ok seems to be going ok so far......

now off to look at the pics again...

The big ugly rusticle, cut out n new bit made ready for welderising...

Cutting out the little rusty icle ... Thats me fein saw, been hackin heaps with that, is a cheapy, but the goes ok i reckon so far. the blade is gtting a bit blunt ....... it came with others but i lost em in my shed....... seend my shed ?? so way not hard to believe i tell ya... Im sure they are on the left with the cut off discs n stuff, but too much laying on the ground in front to check properly. anyway i reckon some quality blades would make it better, cuts tops , 1mm wide , no sparks a little noisy i reckon but heaps of fun..

cut n tacked back in on the little one
..

What i said , but with the big one...

little one welded n cleaned. i go around that again n make it prettier, grind hell out of it again...

I did some on the grill too. cant remember why ... think it was coz i been lookin for something to play with.... i get pics if any one wants em. Its all back together, looks ok. the grill is sweet , ya woulda seen it back a few pages or summin.... anyway, new lights not genuines but brand new both full size reflector how chi min replicas, soooo picked em up for a song ! . but all said n done the grill including the HID kit would owe me under 200 bucks...
Ta daaaa. had a joke to end with but probably not allowed to tell it sooo orangeaverdici . til the next exciting chapter where i decide what to do next. any one wanna comment on painting taillight surrounds to match body colour ? excluding black of course..... like a white car whith white light surrounds ?? , yeah ....... i dont know if it would work either............. sorry just talking now.

Catchyas
