My business use's freight crowds daily.
TBH none are great today and you can never trust them outright thats for sure.
As has been mentioned you need to get the seller go to the trouble and palletise them.
So 2 pallets - good quality ones due to the weight not any cheap thin pallets for for forky drivers do not give a toss at depots etc.....
So they need to tie the units down tight - shrink wrap (black best) them well and fragile labels each side.
Direct Freight we use alot, they seem ok,
Forget Toll they own the market will charge you a bomb.

Try a pack and send. They do the lot and can deliver to your door or another PAS close to you for you to collect. I had a full leather interior shipped from NSW to WA took a week during COVID.

I agree with you about Toll. I think that the bigger the company the more arrogant they get, so I always try and support the other guys if possible. Service is also a big issue these days too. The standards are certainly slipping. People want to earn big bucks but are not willing to work for it.

I'm pretty sure 'fragile' stickers mean bash it around as much as possible

We use Direct Freight Express as well, cheap and reasonable service.

Like anything depends on your driver who does your area though, if they're clowns then expect drama, its not necessarily a reflection on their service as a whole company.

Toll - useless, if I didn't have to deal with my customers using Toll then my life would be easy

A lot of the Toll drivers aren't too happy either, the guy who does our area is usually super friendly and upbeat and he randomly come in super upset over some corporate decisions going on over at that hot mess.

Toll has many divisions (or did) I think only Express would do ugly freight

A lot of trucks used to leave Perth empty, so any sort of back freight would go towards fuel cost. The problem at the moment could be that because of covid restrictions trucks come in, drop their load, refuel, then return back east asap. They don't hang around waiting for back loads. You would be best looking for an owner driver but not sure how you would find one.

A bunch of Private equity Rsoles Bought Tools last May..

It'd been losing Money for years.. I've been expecting a Big Slash & Burn Purge to have happened By Now..!!!

When It comes It'll be Brutal... IMHO...

Would the usual fuel stops have a clue? Just another left-field idea.

you can look and try but most see this as too little to be worth anything and to much involved to do so
and just high tail back as fast as possible when returning east empty
also in the last half a dozen years a few larger companies up rooted and relocated to the west as it was cheaper to manufacture here for them and cheaper to build their premises (land and building costs)
and the cream on top utilizing the empty returning trucks and trains (being cheaper to freight east) in turn reducing the large amount coming in full and filling the empty returning
when this happened we lost transport contracts coming in to the state our selfs but picked up export where we sent out stuff back empty as well

I think you're spot on. The seller did find me a privateer who does East West for a reasonable sum I'd say given the current climate facing everyone. So until I receive my goodies, I can't say either way if the service is worth speaking of.
