These shocks were made to handle the kind of conditions you have placed them under. They should be replacing them for you with no question asked mate

I should have been a bit more specific.

At this stage, we have not found a problem with the shocks. It is the Ford OE rubber boots that have failed. Apparently, these are a weak point in AUs and they don't take too kindly to the car being lowered at the rear.

Next step for my spanner man is to simulate the rear suspension on a press to see whether the top of the shock is going through the top of the boot before the suspension hits the bump stop.

Just askiing whether anyone knows of similar problems that have been resolved - and how they were resolved.

Comment from spanner man - "Welcome to motor racing!"

hi all.
while there were a few thank you's last nite, i thought i'll post in here too.

firstly, many thanks to our drivers. u guys were given an up hill battle from the start, what with none of u having raced at the island before, the task of keeping constant lap times instead of outright speed, and doing this for 6 HOURS, but u all did a great job.
special mention here to BLKPhoon, for letting a second driver share your car at the last minute. this is the stuff of a pure champion, even more so when that driver is GRNKPR... coz we've all seen his 'antics'!!!
with what we now know, future events will bring success.
u guys were the winners to us.

to the quiet achievers, Cam, Chris, XR06, pecker73 (and anyone else i have forgotten, i apologise)..... top job guys!!
no matter what the issue, on any car, these guys came through.
and with what may have seemed like little tasks, they were done easily and left us others to concentrate on other things. cheers guys.

to those that just came along for a look, thanks also. just knowing that the team was supported and cheered on made a big difference.
special thanks to Sean and Al for the mountain of photos and video shot too. much appreciated guys.

my pit mate Brute6... top work dude. to stand out in the sun for 2 whole days and time EVERY lap we did, and never lose your cool, was a huge effort.
only prob is mate that u have now shown your expertese with the lap timing, so it'll be expected in the future!!

finally, but in no way leastly, to my boss/partner in crime/team manger (or is that mistress..... ) Go Baby Go.... the BIGGEST thanks of them all.
put simply, we would NOT have been there with Kaz. while i helped as much as i could, when needed, Kaz was instrutmental in all this. She put MONTHS into the prepartion, and did any outstanding job of it, even to the point of putting in her OWN money to get the team off the ground and letting the drivers repay her when they could.
i'm proud to have worked with u, Kaz, and would do it all again tomorrow.
i just hope and pray that u will keep on as manager, coz u would be an impossible act to follow.....

while the result isnt what we hoped for, we gave it a red-hot go, and came away with alot more knowledge of these events than we could have ever expected too.
we really showed that we can do this, our car reliablity was second to none, and that we can be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

CHEERS ALL, AND CONGRATS ON A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!!
BRING ON 2007!!!!
.... and Mallala....

It was good to catch with you again Tickford2001.

Mate you can certainly steer that car well, I've got to find another 5 odd seconds to catch your times. I feel like I've got a sub 2mins in the car but to then push down to mid 50's is a huge step.

hehe thanks mate, we all were having a bit of a giggle when the times came through from one of the practice sessions: there was that off tap clubsport in P1, then a 911 porsche in P2, then me in the EA Falcon 6 pot in P3...followed by a few more 911 porsches, an M3, some mustangs etc etc lol the "old taxis", as a few people put it, were doing alright

you will get there mate, all the time in the car on the weekend would have done wonders, and the island isnt the easiest track to get your head around - especially when you have to spend half your time worrying about running over mini's!

does anyone here know the guys standing with the blueprint XR ute at honda taking pics at different times throughout the day? :

Hey Guys if you are interested in doing another one, there is one coming up at Winton on November 4 & 5th, it is being run by the Alpha Romeo Owers Club Australia (Vict Division), they are running it on a club sprint / regularity format. It should be a hoot, go to their website to get the Supp Regs, contact details, etc. It also is a Teams Event.

Hell, we have entered the Ute for a laugh.

AROCA 6 hour Regs etc Scroll to the bottom of the page

GRNKPR doesn't need extra incentive, the pub would have been enough for the lap record :

the "old taxis", as a few people put it, were doing alright [QUOTE]

Yes I was impressed with the "Taxis" . I was watching the silver one making time on the black latest model Mustang. Unfortunately the EA had to come in for a changeover.
Also saw your car Tickford2001 at Sandown - very impressed with your times. :
