i met brocky when i went to bathurst in 93 (think it was 93 anyway) he had just finished out on the track....and was obviously busy but he found the time to say hello to a couple of small kids who came up to him and asked for his autograph, where as a few other drivers there at the time (wont mention names) refused point blank....he was always a guy to welcome the fans, a true gentleman. he will be sorely missed
r.i.p. brocky. your a legend

Why? Is the loss of a TV "Icon" whose poisoning of America's view of Australians is jammed down your throat any time you go to the USA really greater than the loss of one of our great Authors? It is a true reflection of the trend to lower everything to suit the lowest common intellect that Irwin is lionised and a great authors death doesn't make the news.

Farewell Brocky, as much as the Polariser was ajoke and he became a sellout in his later years, its a great loss. Another great figure from my childhood gone this week...

RIP Brocky you legend.

I can't belive some earlier comments that I have read from some muppets on here.

Makes me wonder why I visit here sometimes. Even though I'm an XR8 owner, think I'll spend a bit more time at LS1.com

Rip Peter Brock, he died the way he lived. His one liner was Live life or enjoy life.

He was a childhood idol who had his ups and downs. Never perfect but bloody close.

He will be sorely missed. :(

One of my all time motorsport heroes gone! He is the "King of the Mountain" and I don't see that being challenged for a while if at all. He was as Elvis to Bathurst as was Elvis to music.

He was the person who got me interested in V8 Supercars after I first watched him race. I followed him until his retirement and in his retirement. I think this death has a much more devastating effect on me personally because I love motorsport.

Two awesome Australian icons dying in freak incidents this week. I would say it can't get any worse but don't wish to curse myself.

R.I.P Peter Brock

Bathurst will never be the same.... Although he hasn't raced in the iconic endurance race for some years, the name Brocky has always been synonymous with the Great Race.

RIP Peter Brock, you will always be the King of the Mountain.

RIP Brocky....you really could pedal a car...condolences to family and friends.

I think if my memory is good that his nav..Mick Hone used to race bikes.

As for threes I think Brocky was it...there was Don Chipp..Steve and now Brocky.

And Thiele got honourable mention on Aunty.

RIP Brocky. No, I didnt know him. Yes, he was a Holden bloke. And yes, I feel sad that he is gone and I will miss him, as will many people. If people think that all these tributes to a bloke most of us never met are a waste of time, then tough.

I will miss Brocky and its not because I ever met him, its because I liked what I DID know of him and I have massive respect for the skill and dedication he brought to a sport that I love.

For the people who choose to bag him in his death (ie YOOT), its easy to be a keyboard warrior - go say the same thing at his funeral and see how you go. Its about respect - if you have some for the bloke, then say so. If you dont, then just shut up and dont read the threads. Same goes for Steven Irwin.

Condolensces to his family.

Jac

A good idea, and fine mark of respect. All proceeds from sales of such an item should go to a form of charity. Anyone know which charity would best fit this idea?

Respect for the guy is good but personally I don't see how me putting a sticker on my car is going to show that. A very nice idea for those who want to do it though.
