Now I have a problem with this, as I obey most rules of the road, and there is 1 called the keep left rule, it comes in handy when you drive on a road that has 2 or more lanes going the same way. Being a truck driver myself, I hate when you have 3 lanes all with a car in them and miles of road in front of each car or miles of road behind, but they will sit all at the same speed and start tapping the brakes or slowing down and speeding up instead of just moving over and let me get on my way like the law states, It should not matter to you if I am going faster than you, that's a matter for the police, you could have just moved over and let him on his way and had a nice peaceful ride home without the agro. You should not be worried about what the guy behind you or beside you is doing and concentrate on the job at hand and abide by the road rules and move over, then you wont have a tailgater be it a car, bike or a truck. Maybe if you had to drive a truck for a short period of time you might have a better understanding what we have to put up with with the suicidal car drivers that think its ok to pull in to a trucks braking distance, overtake on blind corners, think that a truck can see them when they are at the front wheel in a merging lane, I could go on, but it just falls on deaf ears as we are all guilty to doing the wrong thing in our little tin boxes. |

You are aware that car Speedo's only have to be accurate to within +/- 10%. & almost without exception read fast.. Whereas a Trucks Speedo has to be within +/- 1%. You driving along in your car with the Speedo needle on the posted Limit you're almost guaranteed to Be Travelling Slower than you think you are. & that that Big truck that just passed you & you think was Speeding. Actually wasn't |

I can see that you have good intentions but what we have here is someone who has an attention seeking disorder and unfortunately, you’ve fallen into his trap. It’s like the old saying, never argue with an idiot.
See how he bitched and whined and then when people asked genuine questions, he dismisses them with this “I am right” and everybody else is wrong attitude. We all come across people like him everyday and it’s best to just ignore them. Once they realise that their little tantrums aren’t getting a reaction, they tend to move on and annoy someone else. Just for your info, the Western Highway is two lanes and people who fail to keep left on this road are a real PIA.

Typical car driver response
In my 20 years of driving a truck, I have had 5 accidents all of them cars crashing into me, 4 of them got out of there el cheapo **** boxes and abused me telling me that I should be more careful and that im a "typical truck driver", funny they were all charged with varying driving offences . So when you put all us truck drivers into a category of "unprofessional cowboys", Especially when there are way more Bad car drivers out there, think again. Plus if you think about it, all us so called cowboys are the ones that make sure you get what you need, we stop rolling, you have to hunt and gather again, you would be amazed at the job truck drivers do to get you what you take for granted. I don't know what you do for a living, but im sure if I labelled your profession in the same manner, you would be a little ticked. |

I have never said all truck drivers are cowboys. However due to the actions of a few on the road to keep myself and family safe I have to assume they are.

Anyway I'm done with this thread. I was a bit shaken by the aggressive driving that was directed at me on Thursday night.

Don't ya just hate it when the overtaking car is sticking to the speed limit and only doing 1 or 2 KPH more than the cars he's passing.
Was that you borough? |

Yes thats exactly what you should have done. I don't want to go all health and safety but assess the risk and make the change. In this case change lanes, let the idiot go by and get home 30 seconds later, but in one piece. Righteousness won't guarantee you're safety.

I think I've explained the incident enough. Blame me all you like however I was doing the speed limit, overtaking a row of cars where there was no gap I could merge into.

Kudo's to you then, you exercised common sense and lived to tell the tale. No point dwelling on it. The only thing you get from looking back is a sore neck.

If you are worried about tailgaters then fit a dual gps dash cam to your vehicle, hand the video to the coppers when some moron harasses you but make sure your driving was lawful. Cheers. |

You will here soon enough! it was reported in the paper the other day he is in preparation to make bail. Apparently he is taken notes of his suppose mistreatment in remand. |

The story was about some emails sent to the Whitehorse Council some years ago by Mr Pusey. The story seems to have disappeared from the Seven News website, however, other sites still have it up. https://www.news.com.au/national/vic...0d2bfe269d4164 That fact that this has absolutely nothing to do with the crash, show’s that it is a blatant attempt of character assassination and to simply reinforce in the public arena that Mr Pusey really is the bad guy. If the mainstream media actually had some brains, they’d stick to reporting the “known facts” of the case and leave everything else until after the trial. Mr Pusey’s lawyer will be loving this. Yep, and this is why they must be careful otherwise they’ll fall on their backside and he will most likely get bail. He must be treated properly in remand and they “must guarantee” his safety in custody. Mr Ashton was asked about his bail application the other day during a press conference and he said that they will be apposing bail because in their opinion, he “Pusey’s” offending was at the higher end of the scale. They are clutching at straws and it might work, but it might not either.

I rarely go to Melbourne, but I've noticed Police far more aggressive than the Tassie force.
Not saying a bad thing (maybe it's required) just seem very bossy, enjoy power etc. Police here mostly casual and chat normally. |
